Actually he was describing a situation wherein he hoped to finish with between 6 and 9 wins, which doesn't sound wayyy outmatched to me. I think he should be trying to make as much money as he can by winning the winnable away games, because in order to eventually compete in his new division he is going to need cash to buy better players.

He has a 21k player and a 16k player and no one else above 14.6k. Unless he makes major upgrades at a few positions between now and the beginning of next year (assuming he does promote) he wouldnt even make the playoffs in the Big 8 of my IV league, much less any III. If you think he's going to be able to pick out a bunch of road games that he can win in III then I've got some beachfront property in Oklahoma to sell you...

Obviously good managers can make up for lower salaries by managing game shape, playing correct tactics and buying/training players to have cost-efficient skills but there's only so much room you have to wiggle. With that disadvantage he'll need to TIE to get his enthusiasm up and then pounce when he can use the fairly big homecourt advantage to give him a good chance to win. Winning your most recent game only accounts for one of the questions asked in the survey and is way overrated, he needs to win as many as possible, not worry about micromanaging the Fan Survey.

My point is this- It is much better to manage your enthusiasm season-wise and not on a set TIE TIE CT pattern. And if you are aiming for games to win, then games against inferior opponents while your enthusiasm is high are a good bet. And that if you have the opportunity to win games away from home, that is even better because it will improve your ticket sales in your next (home) game. That said, I mark my tv games and rivalry games as must games from the first day of each new season. I am currently 19-1 against my rival and 39-1 in tv games. I don't think of it as micro-managing the fan survey. I think of it managing my schedule for optimum revenue.

You do the math. I don't think it's overrated. But that's just me.

No I agree with what you're saying. I just think it might be tougher for him to do it as an undermanned, newly promoted team than you as you are a consistent power in the top division of your country.
