Finally, owners agreed to the player demand that trainers, some of whom haven’t changed their methods in over ten seasons, take a refresher course, bringing them up-to-date with the latest equipment and techniques. A particular emphasis of modern techniques seems to be cross-training, and by the start of season 17, we expect that just as improvement in one skill seems to be linked to related skills, now improvement in one skill will in addition be linked, more weakly, even to seemingly unrelated skills.

This is what we know about the change. I guess more details about this will be out this off season.

Great.

"more weakly linked to an unrelated skill" - so for 10 levels OD you will get 1 level blocking, or what?. That will totally change the whole system.

It seems that everytime you train a player, all his skills will improve (though obviously by a very small margin).
If that's true, maybe the increase in the skills you actually train will be lowered, otherwise we'll just see an inflation in players' skill levels.

We won't know until it happens, but my best guess is it's going to be about increasing training options for each position, or maybe just some positions, such as allowing training a skill like passing or handling for just the SG, SF, PF and/or C (currently only a PG can train as a single position for those skills). The affect of that sort of change would mean that you wouldn't have to train a player out of his natural position for the purpose of training those skills affected. It won't be about increasing training speeds. If anything, it might mean decreasing training speeds for when training a skill at a position where skill is less used, but we won't know until it's implemented.

Why are people looking at the prices on the low end?
Doesn't this mean that a 'farm team' trains up a guy (or looks after a player) whilst he is sitting on $400k salary - he then leaves the game and that guy then hits the TL at $4mil? If this is the case it should make the mid range players (sorry my mid range may differ from a lot so I'll just say $50-150k wage) more valuable?

I would expect this to allow people to detect farm teams easier and this will flush out the monsters of the game that are being built with alot of collusion by clever NT's. Now they have to keep physically listing them.

Gotta say was hoping for some upgrades/improvements.... nice idea but not edge of the seat stuff...

There is a cap at $1mil. So no one will start higher than $1mil.

Hey, I like those old players (when the price is right). The problem with those players on the TL is that they tend to get listed way over market value since teams want to cash them out before they lose all value. I'd actually like to see age introduced into the introduction price factor since those old players are the ones that may be most likely to retire with no hope of getting bought. Your example of a $30k player at 32 years old is an excellent one. I could see bidding on a player like that for, say $100k, maybe a little more if he fills a need, since I could get a very useful season or two before his skills start sliding. But at $300k, I'd probably pass. But maybe not everybody would pass, so maybe this system will work out okay in the end.
