I agree that it appears that there is no specific rule against it. However, in the Rules of Conduct there is the following sentence. “in the interests of keeping the game fun and fair for all users”

While a claim could be made I suppose that this is a valid “tactic”. I don’t believe that it promotes the game being “fun” for others in the league, and in no way can one claim it promotes fair play. His team did make the playoffs last year with no players on it! Which cost another person a chance at promoting.

While not an issue this year, what would happen in the NBA if the Miami Heat decided to not put players on the court and forfeit games to get a better draft pick, while still getting TV revenue on the backs of other teams? Think Stern would allow it?

isn't that exactly the situation, the owner lock the players out but i think besides boston who are promoting their television they got the money for it ;)

Why? If you're competitive why should everyone else be as competitive as you are? In the NBA, it is disrespectful because the the team supporters bought tickets, merchandise etc. On the other hand, this is just a game and no one invested money in your team to see it win games.

He can do whatever he wants to his team, just as long as he doesn't do stuff like create dummy accounts and sell his players at overpriced prices. If you think tanking is a valid strategy then feel free to gut your team and try it out. Personally I'd love it if everyone in my league tanked and forfeited all their games to me.

I know from one team that also likes to tank, but he does the opposite, he enjoys tanking negative numbers and going bankruptcy.

It seems it's just a fashion, managers enjoy tanking positive numbers or negative, if you believe it ofc ;)
