Maybe another option is to just let the players get their minutes that they play in the game, whether it's against "lucky fans" or not.

That's the biggest issue, is it not?

I completly agree, I posted a similar thread last season (2188.7)

Maybe in real life a walkover lead to 25-0 score. But here in BB there's much more walkovers than IRL, that's why it's such an issue. I face one, once per season on average although I'm now in D.III (which is supposed to be more competitive).

Moreover in BB, most of the time you could expect much more than a 25 pts differential if the game were not a walkover.
Points average is important, and walkover can be used to foil a player attempt to get a better pa, by players who are out of competition (or frustrated).

The penalties should be harsher for the teams who made the walkover. I think that the high number of walkovers we can see, is actually an indication that the penalties for playing that way are too low.

Never made a walkover and always fielded 5 players minimum.
