Considering he has gone to some Turkish Division 3 team who played most of their players for 144 minutes last week, yeah , you probably should have ;)

Just a reminder to all - we kick off our campaign tonight at 9:00pm AET against the Nguyens.

Hopefully should be a good first up win - but no game can be taken for granted.

Well we got our campaign off to a solid start with a harder-fought-than-I-would-have-liked 34 point win against team Nguyen.

The game in five:

1. The team was surprised by the fact that there were only 4 Nguyens in the Vietnamese team. This shock translated into their early play - with the team getting off to a sluggish start.

2. The entrance of debutant Emori Falotese sparked the team early, with four assists and four points in his first 5 minutes of NT basketball. From there, the team was never headed, despite a couple of runs from Vietnam.

3. Lionel Walker had a stinker early, failing to score any points until late in the third quarter. A flurry of points after a certain NT manager bagged him out saved him from worst on court honours - though he did a good job defensively all night.

4. After a bit of a tussle through the second and third quarters, the team pulled away late in the third quarter, with the game entering garbage time early in the fourth, where the team ran away with it. Sadly, despite the garbage time, Querido didn't get off the bench, so he'll have to wait another week for his debut (though his player history gives him credit for the game).

5. Vietnam have some of the worst NT players I have ever seen on their roster. I'm trying to figure out why any NT would want a 3K 34yo star on their roster. I can't think of any.

Tough week to pick out votes, with no real standouts offensively or defensively.

Darby Walters medal:

3. Scott Schnieder: Gets the three votes for performing efficently from the PF slot in an outside offense. Did it all really - scoring jumpers, inside shots, and even an alley oop.

2. Brent Degas: Solid without being spectacular, Degas notched up 21 points on 16 shots, including a three. Did a decent job facilitating the offense, with 4 assists.

1. Jone Bogan: A couple of blokes of the bench could have got the one vote here (I only wanted to give it to one of them, since they mostly scored in garbage time). Bogan was the most efficient scorer on the night, so he gets the vote. Scoggins unlucky.

-1. Keith Anderson: Can I give negative votes? Damn right I can. You go 3-12 from the field, and rack up 4 TOs against Vietnam, and you are getting a negative vote.

Rudolph Radford medal

3. Scott Schnieder: Scotty makes it the double with an all around great defensive effort. The opposing PFs could barely score on him, he pulled down the most rebounds on the team, and managed a couple of blocks to go with it.

2. Lionel Walker: The opposing SF went 3-12 (which considering how the PG and SG went, is a pretty damned good defensive effort), and Lionel grabbed four steals as well. Lack of boards a bit of a downer though.

1. Keith Anderson: Did a good job keeping Pham quiet, and picked up 3 blocks.

-1. Brent Degas: Another performance worthy of a negative vote. You let a 36yo guard in poor gameshape go 10-15 against you? Negative vote.

Jackson Mansfield medal leaderboard:

With a solid all around game, Schneider jumps out to an early lead

6. Scott Schneider
2. Lionel Walker
1. Brent Degas
1. Jone Bogan

Plus 1 from me,

Loved the read great stuff

Edit

In response to your earlier post

5. Vietnam have some of the worst NT players I have ever seen on their roster. I'm trying to figure out why any NT would want a 3K 34yo star on their roster. I can't think of any

1/ He might be the team mascot

2/ The National Team Manager is trying to boost his merchandise through dodgy team selection

3/ Lucky fan competition

4/ Lucky good luck charm

5/ Superstition

6/ Like an AFL draft years ago where one club mistakingly read out the wrong number

7/ Lack of involvement from other team Managers, so the NT Manager thought he'd do something controversial to get some involvement happening from other Managers

8/ He has hidden skills

9/ Match Fixing

10/ He shouts the beers after the game

Well done. If you can keep the enthusiasm to reflect on games this way, you will certainly draw a lot more interest to the NT team than there has previously been. I for one am starting to watch the games more. Good work!

Great work now you just have to somehow manage to get Reimers in the lineup. And you will have my full faith.

Another win - albeit tighter than I would have liked. However, we are two for two, so I can't complain.

The game in five:

1. The team was lethargic early, with the UAE getting out to a six point lead, before an 8 point Walker burst off the bench in the first quarter ensured that the teams would go in nearly level at quarter time

2. The second quarter was Reiffel's quarter, as the SF put up 11 points, and only missed one shot for the quarter.

3. Both of the UAE bigs had double doubles at the half - a big reason why they were only four points behind at half time. Our interior defense and rebounding was a big concern for the night.

4. The team exploded offensively in the third quarter, scoring 36 points including 5 threes, as we blew the game open.

5. Querido rode the bench for most of the night (despite being backup PF) - but got his first competitive NT minutes, and scored his first NT points late in the game.

Darby Walters medal

3. Leigh Reiffel - Easy pick. His burst in the second quarter kept us in the game early. Our leading scorer, and one of our leading passers, and did it with efficient shooting and no turnovers. A great game from someone who was only expected to be a role player tonight.

2. Darren Lonergan - Scored efficiently from the PF spot, gave a few assists, and gave us some extra chances with his offensive rebounding. Solid throughout the night.

1. Brent Degas - Did a fine job scoring - though it would be nice to see him hitting his threes at a slightly better clip and conceding less TOs.

Leaderboard:

3 - Scott Schneider; Leigh Reiffel; Brent Degas
2 - Darren Lonergan
1 - Jone Bogan
-1 - Keith Anderson

Rudolph Radford medal:

3. Darren Lonergan - Was our only bloke who could grab a board, and was switched onto defending the opponent's C, and did a fine job there. Also had a couple of swats.

2. Brent Degas - Opposing PGs went a combined 2-16, so that gives him the nod here.

1. Vladimir Shishaev - More a point by default than anything, as the opposing SGs did about what I would expect in a LI offense.

-1. Scott Schneider - After a great game last weak, he earns the coach's wrath this week by letting his opponent go 13-17. Not what I would expect from him.

(for the record our PF and C were switched defensively)

Leaderboard:

3. Darren Lonergan
2. Lionel Walker; Scott Schnieder
1. Brent Degas; Vladimir Shishaev; Keith Anderson

Jackson Mansfield medal leaderboard:

With Schneider having a down game, and Lonergan a great one, we have a new joint leader this week.

5. Scott Schnieder; Darren Lonergan
4. Brent Degas
3. Leigh Reiffel
2. Lionel Walker
1. Vladimir Shishaev; Jone Bogan

Yep, so everyone knows there are a couple of Aussie players on the market:

Jone Bogan (13436463)
Keith Anderson (22818997)

Both are selling cheap. While they have high salaries, you'll get around 15 per cent of that back each week in merch I believe - since they are locked into the starting 12. Could be great players for someone making a title push.

Also, the owner of Burl Barth (26455943) has been looking to sell him. If you are interested in training up one of Australia's best young guards, and have a spare couple of mill floating around, get in touch with the owner.

Also, a reminder about the NT fed - join if you want to get involved: http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/fedoverview.aspx?fedid=19765
