I think it only goes up when you win over a team that has ranking higher than you, and you might lose ranking if you lose to a team whose ranking is lower.

Depends on who you beat, and the teams ranked close to you and who they beat or lose to. Been there done that!!!!

Whew, was able to get him off my hands. Would have been interesting if someone in this league would have bought him though. That's a heck of a lot of salary off my books. Spike, how are you able to have so much weekly gate receipt even while charging so much? I'm trying to emulate you and I thought I could have with our similar records but when I changed my pricing, my fans all left. :(

My experience, never change the ticket price :) It would dramatically drop your income and very hard to recover. The economy of this game is pretty complicated.
