Pool A top spot secured as Aus21 defeat Indo
(34307)

Indonesia tried pulling some players out of position to cause mismatches, but the Australian team was too balanced. Has there ever been a more influential game from a player that remained scoreless? Ethan Edmonson managed 9 assists, 6 boards, a steal, and 0 points, and keeping his man to under 20% FG%. Yet he was a key part of the teams success (imagine the uproar if I was to give him a vote ;) ) The only game to rival such a display was Nicos 10 assist, 9 rebound performance last week and scoring 2 points on 1-19 shooting. Thank god Ethan didnt take another 15 shots, he may have hit one!

Next week is our final game of the first round, and we play arch nemesis China. These games usually end with blood on the court, expect nothing different this time round.

Australia secure key win over Hong Kong, set up for top 2 spot.
(34829)
In the second stage of the continental championships, its all about securing a top 2 spot for a semi final showdown. Australia took a big step to grabbing one of those spots in pool D last night, taking an 18 point win over one of the "Big 3" Countries, Hong Kong.

It was the Ewan Price show, with the big guy going 11-15FG for a massive 27 points in just 29 minutes, including 11 from 11 inside the keyway. His 8 boards also proved crucial, as the Australians led the rebound count 49-34, including 17 offensive rebounds.

Captain Nicodemou controlled the pace well with 6 dimes, giving the open shooter a distinct advantage. Power Forward Benji Nicholas also had his passing skills on display, even though he registered 2 assists, many a time he set up a scoring play with the finishing player fouled as a result of his vision.

Next game is against the Philippines, and coaching mastermind Morwood. Expect nothing less than a full assault from these guys as they look to compete for top spot in our Pool. Does the top spot really matter? Im not sure. With China losing last night, and Taiwan looking like a great team, the semi finals look to be as competitive as ever.

i wish we could just play you guys every week. They are always so tight, and are classic to watch live. GS was worrying from our end, I risked playing a few that were not in great shape and it paid off. Your PF was a beast though, it was a great contest between Pontilar and Nguyen with the 6th foul happening and causing the injury, taking both key players out of the game in the same play. Pontilars FT% wouldve sealed the game for you too.

Best of luck, hope you guys can make the semis and we can play again in a rematch!

Australia-Phillipines lock horns in all-time great battle
(34831)

For those unable to watch, this is a game well worth your time. The battles between the PFs, between the guards, and the 2 monster Cs, this game had it all. In the final play of the 4th quarter the 2 top scoring PFs battled it out with one drawing a foul, team down by one, and is injured on the play! Enter the sub who manages to make one FT, and the game goes to OT.

2 votes- E Price (22 pts, 7 boards, 4 asssits)
