Is the very real extra function this player provides:
He plays for you!
His skills are always worth more than his salary since the salary doesn't catch up until season's end.
You have to have players on your roster
Those players don't have to be bought or paid
and unlike the 33+ aging veterans, they don't lose skills along the way
also diminishing in value
And BTW
Check the current prices of a well trained player
make 3 and they perform for you as they gain value
