Not sure what box scores gotta do with this, but I thought we're talking about clutch? Shouldn't only stats in the last 5 minutes of a close game be counted?

In BB. A box score shows a player’s stats for the entire game. It can be used as a measure.
Then, when you go into the “Play by Play” you can see how the stats for the box score were accumulated.

The clutch player with awful experience hit most of their shots in the final 60 seconds prior to halftime and the game ending.

The sensational experience player attempted much fewer shots during those 60 second stretches, and missed the shots they did take. But had a very similar box score, to the player with awful experience. The main difference being the sensational experience player got to the FT line more. Where they hit FTs that we’re not in critical moments. And they did not get to the ft line in a clutch moment either.

The box scores have to do with it, as the box scores is to help establish the “control” setting of the experiment done using the scientific method.
