Maybe a list of the new players would help. Then more experiended players could BB mail them to get them started. And give them a few hints how to easily improve their team and game experience.

But as nobody knows who is new (at least in the larger countries) then it is impossible.

It would also help new players feel welcome and it would be an opportunity to tell them to be active in the forums. A nice and active community is something I believe will be important to keep players for some time.

There are many ways to do this. Maybe new users could get automatically their Tutor. They could ask him anything. Or every new manager could get link into help folder (best folder in his mother language). I try to help newbies as much as I can. When they see LA, they are more likely to ask:) But I know only what is written in the rules, because I have translated them.

im touched that a lot of us cares for this game as well as the players.

but we must all understand, not everything in life is for us. we cannot please everyone. its nice that we see people do try to play and enjoy this game.

to some enthusiasm means imagination, to some the fun of watching basketball etc. but if we dont let them be themselves and let them learn by themselves they can never stand for themsellves.

helping newbies the way i see, is a big thing for a online game community. im happy to see a culture developing compare to others. having bb's to even take part often as they can is a sign of good things to come.

remember we can only help as much as we can, how it turns out depends on them personally. how it translate to them is another thing.

an example is how i started, the first few games was really devastating i even lost big time. but i never stop maybe because i enjoy what im doing and i have a crazy basketball friend who help me analyze. but the trouble of making time to think about your teams strenghts and weaknesses, the type of gameplan you will execute, how to develop your players.

its funny just being in this game, i really do had to sleep late that time analyzing my team.

you can only teach so much being online, it really takes a lot for the user himself, so i sow and i reap!

lucky are those who's team already started with talented players! but to those who are unlucky . . .you are blessed because you can clearly see more what to do next faster than them.

I started last year in Div III and got roasted. It was very frustrating to learn the game in that manner as you are constantly getting blown out by better teams who know the tactics and you dont. As for the extra money it is not worth it, there were a bunch of people that started like I did and I dont think any others survived. Part of the problem was the team had so few players to build around and you needed the draft to get your best "prospects" to train. However since you are/were depending on the draft to build the scouting process and success for a late arriving team was highly variable at best as I only had partial ratings for about 9 players. Things have gotten better in Div IV by I am by no means winning all my games....just my two cents...I like the game but the learning curve can be tough for some.

BB has changed their placement policy from time to time. In the USA, they generally had not placed teams in D.III; then last season did for a while, and then stopped, and have been replacing bots this season.

I think it is good that they are willing to place new teams fairly far up, In the smallest countries, even starting teams out in D.I. But it certainly wouldn't be fair for a new owner to replace the current bot team in the NBBA.

Rather than being unfair to the new teams, I think it may be more of a question of unfairness to existing teams who were placed in lower divisions. To the extent that bots are replaced in D.III they will block extra promotion opportunities for teams in D.IV.

Perhaps they could take into account how many teams a new team was being placed in front of. For example, have a rule that a new team can't be placed ahead of 1/4 of existing teams. For example Germany currently has 556 teams. There is a capacity of 336 teams in the top 3 divisions, so there are at least 220 (556-336) D.IV teams. Any team being placed in D.III is being placed in a better financial situation than 40% or more of German teams who signed up first.

Or more radical would be to consider promoting teams from D.IV during the season. At the end of last season, there was a priority list created to determine which additional teams from D.IV promoted to D.III. So there are teams that just missed qualifying for promotion. Let them decide whether they would accept a mid-season promotion. If a team becomes a bot in D.III, then swap teams, with each taking over the other team's record and schedule. If you run out of D.IV teams that want a mid-season promotion, then you could start placing new owners in D.III.
