I think those in smaller nations would be turned off big time if out of towners came in and dominated their country season after season.

That remembers the guy of South Africa, alone in his country with bots, who was against the merge of his micronation with the other countries from Africa. Human nature prefers easy things like playing against bots...

I was not alone in my country. South Africa has been the biggest and strongest African community for a while. The situation did not change much. Check the rankings and trophies since the merge. SA teams won almost all the trophies in 14 seasons (24 of 27 right now). Only 2 Senegalese teams managed to win 3 Africa cups. I bet this season's league 1 champion will be a SA team once again.

On the other hand, our NT is weakened by the fact the high potential draftees are shared between more countries.

It is normal that the more managers in a community, the better the NT will be.
It is normal that the more managers in a community paying the Utopian team, the more benefit they will get.
Do you want your community to be stronger? Then get more managers from your community.

Said that, I am in the minority that would like an Utopia NT. (well, not anymore, because since I decided not to give one more euro to BB-Marin, Utopia is irrelevant to me)

Was there in the history of mankind some minor suggestion that was implemented?:)

I love this quote. This is one of the reasons BB-Justin and I are here.

Literally Giving Utopia a National team would be the quickest fix to giving Utopia some half decent relevance for people to care more about it. I like my team but i am back and forth in even caring about it honestly and not because i don't like it but because its just rather unofficial. With our normal teams, everyone has their national loyalty so to speak that creates some natural care about how their team does.
Utopia is just this thing, not even a place
.

Maybe, make the drafts Micro nation players, like the bottom 10 and set a randomizer to what players are what nationality. I am from the US so this does not really affect me but id think as its been previously mentioned by others that this would help those smaller nations compete with larger nations BUT WITHOUT us taking any of their teams to help them. We would have our Utopian teams and have a new legitimate reason to care more about the development of the players that we draft every season.

A) Give Utopia its own national team. (Potentially two even. A National team East and a National Team West that then compete in a short series to determine who plays in what international competition and utilize the pool of Utopian teams more then the standard country since i suppose Utopia IS supposed to be something a bit different and something for SUPPORTERS paying into the game.)

B) Using the 10 (or so) smallest nations on the game, Randomize the nationalities of the Utopian Draftees. The league and teams are still Utopian thus us not imposing ourselves on the leagues of smaller nations BUT boosting those smaller nations to have a more equal chance as a larger nation would have to realistically compete. They would still be weaker then say China or the US but they would be far better off then how they are now.

Either option would be a great implement!

Utopia is the only case in the whole gaming world where they treat the paying team WORSE than the free team.

So, yes, give it its national team.

So I lean towards your #2, but in that case, how does home coutry merchandise work? If the draftees are random but we're still Utopian in team nationality, there's no chance to earn extra merch either with home draftees or once the current stock of utopian players age out.

I think the solution here is to simply count any player drafted from those select nationalities as home players. If in the US, you get that extra merch bonus for having US players. You get an extra bonus beyond that if its a US player you personally drafted. This we all know, so in this case it would be only unique in that if your a Utopian team, you'd have 10 nationalities that would function in that exact same manner for you.

Functioning like that would allow you to still get those Merchandise Bonuses AND raise the balance in national team play by giving those smaller countries more talent that could be developed into national team players.

1) Utopian team owners will have more of a reason to care about player development on these teams and
2) Smaller nations would get a talent pool boost as they could select Utopian players that are of their nationality thus giving them a better chance to be able to compete against larger countries despite having terribly low user basis.
3) Utopian teams would still get their Merch boost because the players would still function the same as they would in any country, only it would be several nationalities that would co-exist underneath the Utopian banner.

The idea of changing the Utopian into an Intercontinental Basketball League is honestly a great idea as well. There just needs to be some kind of change and the more drastic of a change the better for this additional League to mean anything more then just being a half decent time filler
