Or maybe I haven't been online in four days, log on and see the exact player I want with two minutes left to bid on him. Should I be punished and not be allowed to bid?

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

It's exactly as Superfly said. You don't have to minimumraise the bid every time, you don't have to wait 3 minutes before bidding again as well.

You can bid every second and you can raise the bid with whatever amount you wish. If you want to seal the auction in 5 minutes, just bid enough.

The extension definitely should be there, however I believe that if a person has not even bid once before the original auction time expires they should not be allowed to join the bidding afterwards. I have been in situations where I have been still bidding on a player 30 minutes after the initial time expired when suddenly 2 ir 3 new bidders enter the auction. You should not be able to show up llate and still get into the bidding.

the problem is every time you bid you can't use the money for another player

I like the ideas of the silent auction or limiting the auction to those who are in the bidding war. The 3 minute extension allows late comers to the game who may or may not have known about a player initially. If they watch the Transfer list they would be aware of the fact that someone is coming up on auction.

What gets me is when Im in a bidding war with one other person, and its 15 minutes into the process (which is very common) and all of a sudden some guy comes in way over the top of both of us. Theres no reason for him to be in that if hes coming along last second.

I do my homework when im looking for a player and know when they are coming up and am usually right on top of things and usually when im in a bidding war, I start looking at their transfer histories and their arena and trying to judge how much expendable cash they have on hand. Then all of a sudden someone new comes out of the blue that never would have been involved initially.

I agree that the player/coach should go to the highest bidder however with this constant extension of time it makes for less than satisfying bidding. Also, sometimes Im looking for mulitple players at once and if they are 10 mins apart in bidding all it takes is 3 bids on player 1 for me to have a chance at losing on player 2. If I know a guy with a warchest of a couple million is looking at player one, I probably wouldnt bid on that player and would default to looking at player 2.

The idea of the silent auction I like because it doesnt require me to sit behind the game for half an hour letting some guy minimum outbid me evertime I raise by a solid amount. There should be a way after there is a bidding war established to initiate a silent countdown/bid and at that point it comes down to whoever is willing to cough up more.

So be more careful who you bid for. If you bid on any auction anywhere in the world on anything you want to buy can you use the same money to bid for something else?

Besides that, how does that even apply to this scenario?

I fail to see how requiring a player to have made at least one bid before the original auction time expires equates to punishment. I think that if a player hasn't been on in 4 days he can expect that he may have missed out on a few players that he might have wanted. That is sort of the nature of the game.

Or can I place a bid on a guy I last an auction on last week because I had to take a phone call and the auction ran out on me. Was I "punished" because I had to take a call? I demand a new auction if that is the case.

Why?
maybe I just follow the bidwar and wait the right moment to come in. I don't need to make an early bid knowing that particular player will be sold for much more money

If you are followiung the auction then it seems you would have been there in time and could easily have entered the bidding. So what if you don't "need" to make a bid earlier. Is it really such a hardship to place a bid before the expiration if you are already following the auction?

In other words, as I stated once already, it seems like a pretty reasonable expectation.

Honestly I am stunned at the opposition to this concept. I was really expecting an overwhelming apathy towards it, but the way people are reacting I am actually starting to think that maybe I am on to something here. It seems like half the game doesn't want to bid unless an auction has already gone 15 minutes into overtime.

well as human beings we are susceptible to our own kind of nature

meaning some knowing who and what they want makes the bid with a price he thinks is reasonable or even to the point of trying to make sure no one gets him outbidden by puting what he thinks is the highest already and eliminates much competition.

another type are those playing safe meaning, i want this player but i want to get him at the cheapest or lowest possible amount that i can still have money on my account.

all i can say is, its a bid war . . . so whether a player just came in few minutes left and he see a player he wants and he has the money why not why cant he bid. put yourself on the seller's shoe of course you want more guys to bid so you can get more money.

anyone who wants to bid early or late that is your own style of doing, the question is now do you have the resources to own that player or even the real desire to really buy that player.

life my friends isnt fair, some have more and some have less. in this world that desparity made life really complicated but its your character or attitude to what should be and should not be and what action to take makes you a better person :D

What are you even talking about?

First you try to argue that it is fair to let guys into auctions late, and then you start explaining that life isn't fair. So do you think it's fair or not?

Why don't you make up your mind before arguing with me.
