... a "brick" is not an air ball. It's a very poor shot, usually meaning one with a little too much power and a low trajectory.
Luckily for me in this case the Norwegian is translated like "the ball rolled off the rim". I did not know what to do with this "brick" - and now I do not know how to understand "low trajectory". In my Clue it says; traject="the place where the ferry lands."
Translation is fun and give room for some errors, but we love to be correct now and then.

Older than the rest ...

The trajectory is the path that the ball takes in the air.

A normal jump shot:

----
--- ---
-- --
-- __ *the rim*
-

A brick, maybe:

------
---- ---- __ *the rim*
--

Could this 2 pointer by Shaq be considered a brick (I know its not a FT)?

Indeed - bricks aren't just from FTs.

NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke
Charles: Penn has some good people
A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

I think you have all ferreted out that this is a language issue... I can only add that the GE has no sense of "air ball" on FTs or otherwise... I suppose having a miss described as an airball isn't such a big deal.. except for in the cases of FTs. I believe there is separate language for FT misses though right?

I dont think we should program a airball FT into the GE as that is an exceedingly rare event.. at least on the professional level in the US.

Um, careful with that logic.

Someone's going to do it, so it might as well be me. How about those 0% FT shooters, then? Don't see too many of those in the pros. And they damn sure would be getting their share of air.

sorry let me be clear.. i left a piece out of that logic..it is so rare that it wouldnt justify the development time to implement it, as it would require reprogramming the GE, the interface with the match viewer, the match viewer, and some translation work by all the LAs.... seems like a lot of a small thing.

I agree that coding explicit support for air balls isn't worth it. You missed my admittedly oblique point.

You say you shouldn't code air balls since they're exceedingly rare in the NBA. But the same game engine produces single-digit FT% (often 0%) shooters in sufficient sample sizes, which are non-existent in the NBA.

I've never seen a BB admit that's a problem, and there have been extended debates about this in the Suggestions forum (58173.1). Maybe it makes sense as a game mechanic to force FT training, I don't know. It would be nice to see a BB explain why that is.
