Remeber when Portland drafted Sam Bowie? I'll bet they had Bowie as a 5-star, A, 5-star if we used BB scouting system. We all know how that turned out. Someone pretty good was selected after Bowie, and portland passed on him for Bowie. Just cant remember the name of the guy they passed on.......

Sorry, for those too young to remember, it was Micheal Jordan.

My point is that having scouting reports be vague is more realistic than difinitive knowledge, imo.

I would like to add that the scouting costs seem a bit unrealistic with the expounding price per scout. It is much more expensive to hire the first scout, as you must then set up a scouting apparatus (office, secretary, budget, etc) than it is to add another to an allready exsisting system. Here we pay 5k to start the whole thing rolling, but +20k to add a 4th desk and pager to an exsisting 3. This is probably done for playability reasons, which I am fine with. Just talking realism.

There should be a definitive advantage to spending 40k a week.

I stopped spending all that money for the same reason as the other poster, why in sweet Rose's pie would you ever want to do a follow up on a D or F player when there are still players you haven't scouted yet?

I think if you spend 40k a week every week(88 reports?) you should get to pick:

whether you want to scout everyone once and the rest (40) roll over randomly,

or always scout 3-star and above(that you find) twice, but not everyone once.

Something along those lines. 40k a week is a lot for newer teams and the draft is waaay more important for newer teams as well. I "feel" that 40k a week is a waste of money.

I spent $40K/week and managed to scout every player.

14 weeks 4 player 14*4 56 but we get more i pot more money on this draft the almost every one i know i got 20 full scouts and another 26 patly scouts from the fool scout i got

1 star 1 potential 2 players
2 stars 2 potential 2 players
2 stars 2 potential 1 player
3 stars 1 potential 1 player
3 stars 2 potential 2 players
3 stars 3 potential 1 player
4 stars 2 potential 5 players
4 stars 3 potential 2 players
5 stars 2 potential 3 players
5 stars 3 potential 1 player

so we see 5 players with 1-2 stars 11 players witch 4-5 stars and 4 players with 3 stars sure i love the idea that my scouts will scout only the 5 stars players first and not thous with 1-2 stars but we need some kind of random otherwise every one will know the best players and what the edge of investing more then 10k a week for draft?

am i happy with my draft? no i am not not a single player over 3 potential BUT as i know who are the not disayer players are i can pot them on the down of the list and i have alot down there

1 time scouted players are as so...

1 star 5 players so out of the 7 i got only 2 wear scouted again? i am fine with that
2 stars 3 players so out of the 6 i got 3 wear scouted again i am still fine with that
3 stars 7 players so i got 4 out of my 11 witch is around 40 %? little less
4 stars 2 players so i got 9 players with 4 stars and 7 out of them got scouted NICE
5 stars 9 players but if we go with the Gauss bell i need to have around 28% of my players re scouted got 4 out of 13 that is 30 % so i think it is all bout right

do i like my findings? no is it fair ? yes

Get your facts firs then you can distort them as you please. Mark Twain

Yes, because you are the joose that binds us. What I'm saying is if you pay 40k a week and don't scout every player, something is awry.

I thought the joose that binds us was Velveeta.

Three things every BB should do before they die:

1. Eat a block of cheese with a spoon.

2. Watch 'Battlefield Earth'

3. Punch a Steelers fan in the back of the head.

(note: If you do all three in the same day, I will name my son after you)

Agreed, however there should never be difinitive skill knowledge of players pre-draft. That was my point. There is no way to know how a top college player will translate to the pros, we see it every year, I just used a more well-known example. Spending more should mean better chances, but we should never know for sure. Thats all I am saying :)

Oh ,I totally agree man.

I like the information we receive on players, but not the way players are chosen to be scouted. And I meant only if you pay 40k a week for the entire season. If you take a week off, than it could revert back to the regular way, but if you invest all that money, you should have a strategic choice.

Mark and Charles have more mental power in their knuckle hair than I do in my smoke filled brain chamber, and I have no other gripes about scouting whatsoever...

I've played Indian Badugi with these gentlemen, and I must disagree.
