It's always said "use this defense against this offense or this against this one".
Isn't it more important which ratings the other team has for outside and inside shooting?

Of course, usually a team playing "Low post" will usually have a stronger inside and a weaker outside offense. But if its outside shooters are good enough to "compensate" that inside offense tactic, shouldn't you still think about playing a 2- or something similar??

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

You can use the suggested defense if your players can play it well. Yes he will try to shoot more outside shots, if the coach can get the players to do it. Can you play 1-3-1 against him? Well if your outside skills look atrocious, what good is it? Play that defense if you can do ok, or well.

Sometimes I ignore the strategy. If a team is playing normal or outside, but his jump shots are mediocre, I chose to play inside defense instead. If a team is strong inside defense and you can force the opponent to play more outside, his FG % will be very low. That still wins.
