It is just like you said, nothing more then a helpful hint. You can play him wherever you feel and see where he plays the best. The position given has no effect on training, where you play him in actual games does. As for the designation changing, I have seen it change only once to one of my players(not recently). Not sure what others have noticed with it.

With my team, the positions assigned, have for the most part been where I have been playing my players. I'm sure it varies from team to team.

I think I fielded a team like this and won..

PG - 6'1" Best Position PG
SG - 6'3" Best Position SG
SF - 6'2" Best Position SG
PF - 6'3" Best Position PG
C - 6'0" Best Position PG

Of course I had to play 2-3 zone and motion offense.. Now if i had some extra money I could change my team's name to Midgets in the offseason.. :P

Over the long haul that isn't going to work. Your center should have good inside skills(inside shot/def, shot blocking, rebounding). Does the player you played in the C position have that? He is only 6'0'', much too short for a center. Usually the best position isn't off that much. Most of the time it is between PG/SG or PF/C. If the best position is PG, I doubt he is better at C. I can see a SG playing SF but not a PG playing PF or C. But maybe I'm wrong

He maybe 6'0" but a lot of his skill set are for a big guy

Jump Shot: inept
Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: mediocre
Handling: inept
Driving: pitiful
Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: mediocre
Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: respectable
Shot Blocking: average

Stamina: mediocre
Free Throw: awful

He had a triple double for me once already from the center spot 11 pts 20 rebs 11 asts.. and he averages 7.8 pts 13 rebs 6 asts 56%FG for the season.. eventually once players are better trained, his effectiveness will be diminished for sure but for now he's like doing all i want from a center.. controlling the boards and letting my guards take the shots..

Weird that his best position is shown as PG.. Must be because of his height because like you said, his skills match a C.

Yeah but I dont look at those anymore really. I calculate their most efficient position via assist! I just don't seem to win a lot of jumpballs.. :D

But if small ball worked for the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs, maybe it can do the same for me..

C?

I see a PG

He has 2 respectables in PG skills (Passing and Jump Range) and only one in inside skills (rebounding)

My centers would own that guy.

On-topic, I have a guy who recently changed "best position" from SF to PF, though I still play him at SF. Everyone I play at PF has C as their BP...

With me is the same. My only guy reccomended as PF plays SF, and all my PF's and C's are reccomended as C's.

Again this strategy would only work now that BB is still in its infancy.. Once the other big men are trained further, his effectiveness will wane.

He won't develop much further as a big man (since he's really small) but I plan to train him intensively in Guard skills so I will have an awesome all around player at PG ala Jason Kidd.. hopefully.
