The salary is just random for the trainers level.

this might be true, but it might also be that a same level trainer with higher wage takes longer before he drops 1 level.
My first level 10 had prety low wage for a level 10, but dropped prety quickly.
The one I have now has a high wage, but didn't drop yet, and I have him considerably longer.
Knowing this theory is only based on 2 trainers, it might as well be conicidence offcourse....
Still I wanted to share this thought

I can't find it again but I'm pretty sure that I read a BB or GM answer to the same question somwhere in one of the threads that said that the salary is random and has nothing to do with how fast he will lose one level.

But my memory might be incorrect.

How long toes it take, approximately, for a staff member to lose a level?

When releasing the coach, do I still have to pay him his weekly salary?

when you hire a new coach, you will have to pay the one you had his salary for that week imediatly. So in short: yes.

as to the randomness, I indeed also read it, now that you mention it I recall that. If it was a BB, it is true, if it was a GM, it is probably true, but not for sure. BB know all, GM know a lot, but not everything, and some things are not given away by the BBs and for those things the GMs might be confident, but they will never know for sure...
As I said I only based on 2 trainers, so the chance it is a coincidense is prety high, and chances it IS random are big. ;)

I didn't realy keep track, too bad, maybe I should do that and that in about ten seasons we might have some info to draw lessons from. There is a lot to keep track of, and time is limited ofcourse. ;)

Can a coach really lose level?

He's actually your trainer, not your coach, but yes, he can lose level.

All staff can lose level, actually.
