5 balls = all-time great or hall of famer
4 balls = MVP or superstar
3 balls = allstar or star
2 balls = starter or 6th man
1 ball = role player or bench warmer

Grade rating tells you how high the players salary 5 balls being the highest salary.

Sorry
I don't think that was explained well
after a player is interviewed and scouted, we have 3 ratings
star rating---potential and grade rating
let's say...5 star rating...3 potential and A grade rating
what would that mean

5 star rating means there salary will be 5,000+ to start out, 3 potential either star or all-star potential, A rating basically means how good they are, obviously A+ best, then whatever else.

This is not true. I don't know where you got the information from, but the starting salaries for different star ratings are:

5 balls = $3,700 and higher
4 balls = $2,800 - $3,700
3 balls = $2,300 - $2,800
2 balls = $1,900 - $2,300
1 ball = $1,900 and lower
coming from (144856.13)

Grade rating is related to Star rating. If a player's star rating is 5 balls, it means his grade rating will be between A+ to A-. Similarly, if a player's star rating is 3 balls, it means his grade rating will be between C+ to C- etc.

Both are true. The first is the star rating, the other the potential rating. The grade rating is just a refinement of the star rating.

No I meant like I missed to notice that the information rubball24 gave regarding the potential rating was wrong. I know what the star ratings, potential ratings and grade ratings are.

Of course, these estimates are from a few seasons ago, so they are likely slightly higher than is currently true given the economic adjustments to salaries the past couple of seasons.
