LI is a inside tactic where your outside players would look to get the ball inside to your C and PF for dunks/layups, etc

2-3 zone is a defensive tactic to increase your inside defense at the cost of outside defense (compared to M2M)

In a LI tactic, you would always look to get the ball inside first. If you fail at doing that, your PG/SG will end up taking a bad/pressured shot from the outside.

So the answer your question, no, 2-3 zone is not better against outside teams.

Here's a very useful post to help you with your tactics problem.
Maybe it's a good idea to take a look at the whole Guide, it's really useful.

What you just explained implied otherwise. By forcing outisde players to take outside shots if they can't get it inside (which is what the zone is for) that is hurting outside players. My inside players rarely had to create their own shot and simply completed passes from outside players when they got the ball with a 'drop step' or 'alley oop'. I am looking beyond what the general explaination states and picking apart how it works. if he played man to man or 3-2 would my inside players have had an even larger spike in performance? or would the passing lanes be more clogged from outside players with a 3-2 zone thus preventing as many alley oops and easy baskets for the inside players?
