I have done the exact same thing. I put the price in the box then pressed fire him. Are you sure? Yes I was sure. It was 3AM and I was half asleep, lucky he wasn't worth much and it made me be more cereful but I almost did it again last season and this time it was a player who was worth a lot, I clikced fire once, but realised before the second time.

The change doesn't seem enough, the fire button should be changed of position tbh...

Wasn't there an announcement that starting from next season you cannot fire a player but he will immediately be transferlisted for about 10 times his salary? I think that's quite a good change ... and if you fire a player accidentally you can at least try to buy him back ...

Haha, great feature. Now you dont lose that player if you pay a hefty sum of ten times his salary. Thats soooo much better.

Well, I think it really is an improvement. Maximum is 1 million and if it's a good player, he'll probably get a bet. And then you'll kind of just have to pay the tax. It's obviously not the perfect solution but definitely better than just losing the player...

Thats not how I read it. The newswriter definitely has a talent to explain things so nobody can draw conclusions from the text.

"In other news, the player's union has announced that players will no longer be subjected to automatic retirement when their managers fire them. Instead, players will now take their talents to the transfer market where their initial starting price will be ten times their salaries, with the maximum possible listing price for all players being $1,000,000. This new rule will apply for both bot-released players and players manually fired by their owners. Under the new rule, the only way for a player to be permanently retired is if no manager decides to buy him. This new rule will be implemented for the start of Season 17."

The player does not belong to you if you fire him - you have to pay the full price to get him back, not only the tax - thats how I understand the announcement.
