Played only for 1 month Hattrick, I don't really love soccer :P
Anyway I'm not sure how this works in Hattrick, I just think a captain makes sense in every sport.

i believe in basketball the people rarely knows the captain of their teams, because they don't have a special role on their teams. Like in soccer they have more rights to argue with the referee. In basketball they are mostly responsible for the staff who runs in the background, the captain of my hometown team usually was a 10 minute player who sometimes stayed the whole game on the bench last season.
So i am quite sure that they don't affect merchandise, arena affluence and fan survey that happen through stars independ if they are captiain or not.(and that is already implemented in the survey)

Also i won't give them much impact on the court, that it needs to be implemented.

Think of your three favourite NBA teams. Do you even know who the captain is? I has become such a blurred position that some teams have two or even three captains. If there are 12 players and three are the captain how meaningful is it really? Often the captain is just the best player even if he is a horrible leader.

Im not sure what league this is valid for, nor whether this situation has happened, but, the team captain will take technical fouls on behalf of ejected players/coaches.

eg: Paul Pierce is Boston team captain - Rasheed Wallace racks up 2 techs and gets ejected.... but he keeps on wailing and moaning and complaining etc etc... So the refs can't give him any more techs, he is ejected..... So any more technicals that are earnt by the 'ejected' player, are placed onto the team captain.

Like i said, i have never actually seen this happen in NBA. But the idea is that, if there was no team captain, and you got ejected, you could just keep mouthing off and calling the refs names/etc etc with no immediate implications (although you would cop a nasty fine by NBA later on!)

In some other leagues i think they use a "bench technical' - which goes against the bench, but i dont really know how that works. I only know the team captain dealy.

So yer. In Buzzerbeater though, if your player got two techs, the game would just eject him. no post-ejection bitchin.

the bench technical are a technical for the coach.

And off game technical or technical alone aren't in that game, if you look at it we only had flagrant fouls.

Yer when they get two techs in NBA they are SUPPOSED to leave. But whats preventing them really? what immediate sanctions can a referee put on a player who refuses to leave?

LIke i said, i dont think ive ever actually seen it in NBA, it did happen to me once when I was playing basketball, but they may have just been a crafty ref making up something on the spot.

Still. No legitimate place for a Captain in BB really.

Unless they want to introduce tech fouls.

maybe they could give the manager a tech foul every time he bashes his keyboard in angst whilst watching a game? haha.
