it really depends on how much cash, players u have on ur team
the basics is that the
bigger the stadium the cheaper the price u can sale ur ticket,
and therefore maintain a stabler Attendance income,
which in turn can use to afford higher total salary

the trick of building up ur stadium is keep the attendance @ 80% even at loss
try to finish the enlargement before price change
if its full then build the section that is not full

check ur coast standing, high seeding team have boast in the lower 2 sections
so if u are PO bound, build the lower 2 section first
if u are in the bottom, build the more expensive seats which affected less by the seeding

if u look at it long term, then its always good to balance it out

if u have penty of cash, and not planning to buy players any soon, u can always build the stadium first, its slower to get the result back, but it will eventually come back in about 10-20 home games

There are 3 basic rules about arena expansion:
1) Always it's better to win promotion (or title if You are in top division) than to increase arena
2) Always it's better to survive in higher league (to not be relegated) than to increase arena
3) In all other cases always it's better to increase arena.

I'm the same like you, started late season 16. Now that I got a team that's stable in the division I'm in, I'm expanding my stadium in the following way:

1. I expand all seats with 10%, so lets say you have 5000 seats, expand with 500, with all at a minimum of 1 (VIP boxes).
2. Look how the turn out is, if I sell out 2 times in a row, I expand with another 10%. I also set goals for myself at how big I want my stadium to be at the end of seasons 19 and 20. Don't think too much in short term.
3. If I don't sell out, I drop the ticket price a little bit. At the beginning of the new season increase the price back (new season new chances)

well. ti wull about 2million to get 10thousand seats. Im saving for ir. right now. i have 4500 or so. I dont how much money that will bring in but i know it very long time to do that in one jump.

I sell out every game. So far so good. im just hoping to expand the arean. Then replace a few players when go back up 1 million dollars. which took me about 2 season to get. im very close to 2 million now. about 500K off

sell out = build now
1 build a small amount that fiinish before the next home game
2 build more and finish 3-4 days before the following home game

and increase prize before next prize change @31/12
estimate the price by checking out the price of ur neighbour
assume everything equal since u still have cup games, u should have a better survey than even the top teams

i would cut always in 1 and 2, that also might be situational dependent if you reduce it to the economical aspect.
