If you're training team passing don't, unless all of your players are already good at passing

I was wondering why it is that only a very select number of items are shown on the training page such as stamina drops, freethrow and stamina pops, and skill drops. there are so many other things that get trained on but progress is not shown apparently. such as team passing for instance. am I missing something here? how are you supposed to be able to keep track of your team's progress? is it only through game observations?

When your players increase in skill, it'll show up. For example:
Henry Busch ↑popped↑ in Passing from awful to inept .

The bigger concern is that team training passing is, to put it mildly, painfully slow. Generally, it's recommended to either train guards or big men exclusively, and try to have trainees for whichever you choose that are young and have good potential. Right now, you have maybe two mediocre big men prospects and one mediocre guard prospect, so perhaps you could do big man training in the short term and wait until after the draft to pick up some more quality trainees when the prices are low.

so is there ever a good time or certain conditions to train the team as a whole?

Generally, other than free throws and stamina, which are only available as team training, it's widely recommended to never do the other training types for the whole team. It just doesn't train quickly enough to be worthwhile, so you end up with a roster of players who are improving very slowly and not nearly enough to make a noticeable difference. Usually, you're better off training guards or big men, and then using veterans in the other non-training positions. Your team will improve as your trainees do, and then you can replace veterans with better ones as time goes on when your economy allows it.

ok, you mentioned non-training positions. what are those, exactly?

Basically, positions that you are not training players in. If, for example, you decided that you were going to train guards, the SF/PF/C positions would not be trained (and if you were doing PG only training, the SG would also be a non-training position).
