inside shot is important for lay ups. if you're talking jump shots its just JS and JR.

So, are you saying if you run outside offense, JS and JR will affect FG% and if you run inside offense then IS will affect FG%

tks

Not necessarily. Players can take inside shots when playing an outside offense and vice versa.

yeah exactly what he said ^

The type of offense just affects where players will look to shoot, and what positions shoot more. If you run an inside offense, your guards will drive more, so they'll need to have an okay IS rating. however, the ball should mostly be worked down to your bigs, so make sure they have a high IS rating as well. If you run an outside offense, your gaurds will shoot more. And outside offenses of course focus on outside shots so your guards should have higher JS and JR for that.

Tks guys lots of good info.
So not sure if you can shred light on my SG given what you have said above, there are probably too many variables to nail this down.
My SG has the following:
JS marvelous
JR proficient
DR tremendous
IS awful
His FG% is 27 with game ratings between 9 - 11
I run LI offense
I would have thought he would be closer to 50% on FG
Any thoughts

Tks

higher IS. He's beating his defender, but he probably can't finish. LI means your guards are going to try to drive more, especially him because he doesn't have as much shooting range, and he's very good at driving.

OR you could up his JR so that it closer to his JS and run an outside offense if you want him to score. I read somewhere that you're better off having a guy whose JS and JR are the same or 1 appart, rather than having such a wide spread between the two like this guy

Yeah I would probably say IS is the problem, my SG has 12 JS 11 JR 13 DR and 7 IS and he average 14 PPG and 59% FG in LI offense. And for a D.III in USA thats not a crazy guard, maybe just about an average guard.
