i have never faced such kinda problem.
though i am not a computer expert but why don't you try changing your firewall settings?
i mean there might be an error in the firewall settings that would prevent some exchange of packets.

I turned off my firewall settings altogether and still same problem. Still trying, thanks.

I would also suggest you to report this problem of yours in the bugs forum.a friend of mine faced similar problem.he couldnt log in from his PC while he could log in from any other computer.he reported it in the bugs forum and it was sorted out(turned out to be a bug in the end)

I have a similar problem
just changed to Firefox on the laptop and have your hassle
but it logs in fine if I use IE on the same computer

Try Firefox. IE and Chrome did the same thing for me.
