Is is easily understandable.

Example:
Say your player last week was strong (8) and 300k DMI.
You didn't train him.
This week he is also strong (8) but is now 400k DMI.

He is in better shape than he was last week.

Players will have min/max numbers for each level of GS. Keep track of them.

Example:
7 GS has a range between 80k and 140k DMI
8 GS has a range between 142k and 420k DMI
9 GS has a range between 440k and 800k DMI

The ranges don't cross (ie. he can't be 450k DMI at 8GS and 440 DMI at 9GS)

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

DMI is the combination of skills and GS, so it comes in very useful when looking at your opponent to see how strong their lineup is. It's much more viable than salary for comparison purposes since salary doesn't take GS into account.

Salary also only updates during the offseason, whereas DMI updates every week, so DMI gives a more current assessment of a player's ability.
