Training HA also trains DR, so it improves the elastics for training OD, which is going to be slower when training bigs. HA is also useful if you want the big to play at PG at any point (assuming they will get some passing training at some point as well).

There is another option to train 1v1 guards which also trains HA and DR, but also trains JS. This is for you to decide if you want the big to have any scoring or not (higher JS will help with scoring outside but will take some potential cap). Some people would value them being able to shoot a little bit, but others may prefer they shoot as little as possible.

As for how much HN it's hard to say. If you want them playing a lot of PG you will probably want it pretty high in the end (maybe 18+), but if sticking at PF/C probably don't need as much. But whatever level you train it to you need to factor in that you will get some HN pops when training Passing.

I've never heard of anyone training HA first. Why do you think handling so important?

There's a school of thought that you should train ID first because ID is the slowest to train, and ID will give you elastic effects for IS later on.

There's also a school of thought where you should train SB first, because SB would train ID, SB and RB without affecting IS. This is usually for budget big (they compensate with high JS and PA instead).

I'd say these two ways would be the way to go if you want to build a defensive big.

The HA option is if you're trying to avoid training JS but increase the elastics for OD training. Less JS should mean they look to shoot less and also saves on potential cap space.

If you're training a defensive big then you want to keep IS as low as possible to allow for more ID, SB and RB. So if you can avoid to train ID or RB as much (to avoid the IS cross training) then it's beneficial. Use OD and SB training to train ID and SB training to train RB

I get the cap space part but isn't DR the one that generates looks? That's why people try to keep DR on their defensive bigs low.

It is part of the reason why players shoot, so you have to consider that. But high JS and DR is going to shoot more than low JS and high DR.

The HA and DR training is probably more for the OD elastics than in game benefits. All the knowledge suggests it's better to train OD after getting the elastics, maybe that's wrong.

But if you can get Passing > DR then that would reduce the amount of shots taken.

Training wise it's better to train OD with elastics. But it's not uncommon for people to forgo training speed for game performance.

However this might not necessarily be true.

I've seen quite a few instances where players with low JS and high DR still take a considerable number of shots over teammates with much higher JS. However in those cases, their passing was much lower than their DR, so maybe like you said - the key is to have higher passing.

for me, HA is not worth much regarding performance. I only use it for OD elastics.
Players with high HA and low PA have many TO while high PA and low HA players have low TO.
And Justin told the only effect of HA is to avoid TO, so it isn't worth in my view.

So in this case, is it worth it to go for HA until 18 if my plan is to maximise the long term build of the player with no regards to results in the short term?

If you want high OD on the player, go for high HA, otherwise not.

Does HA give elastics to OD, or is it DR, or both?

This is actually the first training thread I've read which actually talked about HA. Every other thread seem to focus solely on DR. Is that because DR gives more elastics than HA? Or is it because of its in game performance benefits? Or is it because 1 on 1 forwards make training normal players easier?

Actually a great training facility
It's because HA trains a bit of OD on itself which is very valuable on bigs.

It's a double edged sword - HA relies on players height, DR does not. By training HA you don't get JS IS and get less DR and HA, but you get OD.

If youe player is around 210cm i would still go for DR PG/SG, if he is closer to 203 i would go for HA.

Also, this is only for NT level monsters, If you train dor yourself or profit I would start either with DR or SB
