On the other side, I found it a little bit funny, there is a similar behavior in wrestling :) there is a few federations that do not acknowledge each other and have their own heavyweight champion belts... why could be the US the only team which praclaim itself a holder of heavyweight belt? I can create my own Golden Belt, which belongs to Czech Republic - we will defend against Poland :) ... the problem with the first belt is that it will circulate among the top five teams in BB world likely forever :/

indeed, if one can do something, so can someone else.
But it is not very original and shows little respect to the one thinking about it first.

Besides that, it is okay to do so, if managers persist on wanting to go on with this plan. But in the end all Belts that will be 'invented' will end up with the top 5 NT teams anyway... so it's prety pointless.

I can see where this is comming from. Personally, if I would be the one bringing in the Heavyweight belt, I'd probably have given it randomly to a NT team at that time, and see how it would go from team to team until a team out there can get a hold of it a bit longer... but the one comming up with the idea is free to implement it as he sees fit...

The ones who do not like this, or don't like the idea, or the belt, don't HAVE to read the thread about it, and they can simply continue playing as if it does not exist. But please do not steal ideas of someone else, and certainly do not stimulate others to do the same as well, simply mok the idea or to destroy the joy of those who do like it.
That's how I feel about this.

I just feel that it´s a little vain, everybody knows that the "TOP10" teams are almost undefeatable... they are strong, why must anyone proclaim this by creating a belt? "Yeah, we defended against ten times weaker team, we are really good"... no... I quit this conversation, it´s pointless.

edit: and it´s really interesting that your coach has given a belt to Italy just a few days after US won against them, so he could have said that it belonged to Italy (actual Champion) but now, it is his :) ... I hope Brasil will win... if it was like you said - give the belt to random team, it could have been OK...

a few points.

you miss the point of the belt, the belt is something that can be won in 1 game, so lesser teams in fact CAN win it, while they have little chance of winning anything else. It's no official BB cup or belt, it was implemented by a user of the game, to add something other users also could have fun with.

it is not my coach, in fact I don't even live in the country where the belt is right now, so I have no interest in defending it.

I also hope Brasil will win, but only if they then loose in one of their next 5 games. I'd like to see the belt move as much as possible.

Get off the US back. They (the ones you are referring to) are just rolling with the game as the game allows. They may not always be fresh or entertaining, but give them credit, they are being very active and are winning some games. If they lost and then started talking you would be calling us other names. Go back in the thread where it was explained. Good or bad timing, the question will be this: Will the originator track the belt when it is in someone elses hands?

I hope we beat Brazil. We should of beat them a few months ago.

Of course not, why would it be when we CTed our semifinal to ensure we qualified for the worlds while you Normalled yours for some reason?

In the game we really wanted to win, we did win.

In the game we really wanted to win, we did win.

If by that you meant that we arrived in the final match-up already knowing who was going to win, then that only means that one coach outcoached the other. Because the rosters were at the same level, so the strategy by the coaching staffs made all the difference.

If you still don't know what the "reason" for the normal in the semi-final was, then I'll be glad to tell you that it was so we could beat you and be the Champions. Crazy hmm??

That's the advantage of finishing first of the group.. we played a weaker team in the semi-final, trusted our squad and strategy to win with a normal, and come strong in the final. Buzzerbeater is all about analyzing your opponents and your own team and making the right decisions. Everyone saw that our decisions were perfect.

And the result was the title. And nothing you say will ever be able to take that away. Admitting when you are outperformed and/or defeated would be more polite, but whatever.

Is that why you whined on BB Brasil about the "absolutely absurd defeat" and how much you got screwed when the 1st game ended USA 81, Brasil 74?

The USA's goal was to qualify for the World Championships, period.

If you wanted to win a continental championship, more power to you, but we weren't going to risk having to play 2nd chance qualifiers to have a shot at a relatively meaningless title.

It sucked hard having to explain why we failed to advance out of the 1st round of the Worlds. I can only imagine how much harder it would have sucked to have to explain to a community why you didn't qualify directly to the Worlds because you Normalled the semifinal.

If you want to celebrate a win over us when we clearly much more interested in winning a semifinal than the final, go ahead.

Just don't forget that we beat you in a game on your home court that we actually did care about.
