No, it's not.

The forum search does not give an advantage to users to help them win games, therefore it is a perfect Supporter feature.

Most forums have this feature to everyone. Being a supporter, I think the feature should be available to everyone because it reduces the amount of repeated questions if people can search

one advantage that i think about this feature:

if you search more, you learn more...

this game is somewhat complicated to new users, and with their limited knowledge, faster forums browsing is essential to anyone who have a thirst for knowledge... thus, helping them understand more about the game.

for example: the training process here in BB still puzzles me.

with the search tool, i can easily search all posts/threads about training, eventually understanding the training much faster, and doing all that i have learned rather than still finding the right thread to read.

having this option for supporters only, IMO, gives a BIG advantage and should be open to everyone... just like any other forum sites.

I agree with you.

As a supporter, I'm happy to be able to use the search feature, but I think that non supporter should to...

On top of that, the forum is so hard to use (find the post you wan't, deleted topics that still appears etc...) that the search fonction is necessary to use it correctly!

There is a lot of false information as well in the forums, or information that's out of date, because of recent changes. When you search for that as a new users you get tons of information, indeed, but you need to know what's up-to-date and what's right, which is pretty hard.

New users will learn almost anything about the game if they just read the rules, check out the help forums and use the important thread sticky. If they still don't have the answer to the questions, they can just open a topic in the help forum, and a supporter can redirect them to the right thread.

So maybe we should just be more active in the help forums now ;)

Does this mean that supporters can only help new players about their questions? how about supporters who are just new to the game, compared to the non-supporters who have played at least 3 seasons in BB?

my question seems commanding, but it's not... i'm just implying another scenario... just so it would be clear, no attacks done. :)

Huh why would that be the case?

I believe we didn't have a search function untill 2 days ago. That's about 5 seasons and 9 weeks. I guess the new users found their help when they needed it untill know, which has nothing to do with being a supporter or not, so that won't change at all.

I somehow don't understand this logic...

I understand that this doesn't give supporters any sort of advantage, but to me, this really shouldn't be considered a luxury option when it is a relatively common feature in forums.

Personally, while I could live with/without the feature (i.e. Hattrick doesn't have this feature for anybody), it's something that should be free for everyone to use and there for everyone's convenience.

This would like asking you to pay extra to get a seat on a bus. You don't need to sit down to get from start to finish, but it should would be nice to know you have that option. Just my 2 cents.

That's a fair explanation,

Again, I'm not complaining that I don't have it, as I'm just fine with or without it.

To me, it just seems like if you were to implement the search option at all, it should be something that you release when everyone can use it.

IMO, this announcement came off as a rather "snobbish" move from the developers that make it seem like you should pay in order to get what seems like a very basic feature (no talking about the other features, but just this one in particular).

You have to remember that while the BB team has an unparalleled passion for BuzzerBeater, BB is also a business. and as such the business needs to make enough money to be self-sustaining.

Creating features that do not give an inherent in-game advantage that fall under the Supporter umbrella is a necessary part of that.

Let me relate a personal story here.

I've been yelling, screaming, begging, etc. for a forum search for, well, forever. It's incredibly useful in the moderating of the forums, and it's never been technically feasible to do for even one user (me).

Now that a way has been found to make it available to a limited amount of users, there has to be a consistent way of deciding who gets it, and that's why it falls under the Supporter package as of now.

I can understand your position, but please understand that these decisions aren't taken lightly, and Charles did a fantastic job of outlining why.
