I would still vote for more tactical options and situation-depending modifications you can set up before the game.

The better manager is the one that can understand the game engine and decides correctly which tactic is the most suitable for the match. Spending 24 hours per day in the PC doesn't mean that you 're an active manager, it means that you 're a young person without a meaning for life :)

no one is talking about spending 24 hours on this game, this isn't WOW. this isn't a game you can just hang out for 24 hours. but active managers are better than inactive managers obviously. and no one understands the game engine.

Active managers are no doubt better than inactive ones but you can not gauge how good a manager is by how how active he is.
A manager that logs in for an 15 minutes a day and knows the game mechanics could be a far better manager than one that logs in 12 hours a day and does nothing productive for his team.
