Man, everyone plays the game in their own eay, but if you are looking at effective training, you shouldn't have a SG trainee and a C trainee at the same time.

Just my 2 cents.

In my best drafts (my first two seasons playing) I did $10-20K scouting each week, and drafted the following players:

Season 15 draft
Pick 11: Garfield Jacob, 18yo $4k allstar (19239363)
Pick 27: Donnie Anderson, 18yo $3.5k MVP (19239352)
Pick 43: Bryant Swimm, 18yo $2900 superstar (19239366)

Season 16 draft
Pick 12: Paciano Carino, 18yo $5K HOF (20742032)
Pick 28: Jay Munoz, 18yo $4900 starter (20742053)
Pick 44: Bruno Miller, 18yo $3.5K superstar (20742059)

Of those, only Bruno Miller is still with my team. Now I really wish I would have kept Anderson and Carino, but Anderson had atrocious passing which was a big negative and I just wanted to focus more on Miller than Carino, so I sold him for a decent profit. I see he ended up with an NBBA team now, good for him.

I guess the moral of the story is: in D.V, anything's possible. In D.IV, it's harder but I hear you can still get lucky. I had my eyes set on an 18yo 5/5 A+ 7-footer who turned out to have $5K salary and HOF potential, but he was taken with the #2 pick while I had the 11th. Hoping for better luck this year as I've found a 5/5 A+ PF who looks to be pretty good.

5star 19 year olds are underrated.

Why are they underrated? They are worth training only if they have a good distribution of secondary skills and a good potential. I wouldn't mind drafting a HoF SF/PF with stats like:

6, 5
6, 5
5, 6
6, 7
7, 4

It probably doesn't get much better as far as a rookie goes, but at 19y he probably couldn't sell more than for 200-300k. Since 1 in a million rookies gets made like that, I guess there's really no point in scouting 19y olds.

Well, I suppose if your only criterion for a valuable draftee is how much you could sell them on the TL, then sure, 19 year olds aren't useful.

But if you factor in the merchandise bonus for a home drafted player, then a good 19 year old with nice starting skills can be very valuable.

It's not the only one...depends on what you want from draft - a player to add to your team or a player to sell. Even if you are looking for a player to add to your team, I think a 19y old isn't worth it unless it's a super PF or SF with great all-around skills.

my rookie I drafted this year was 19 year and MVP.

He had 43 skill points, so not a great prospect in my view, but due that I didn't have money to buy a better trainee, I decided to train him. Also because his TPE was between 20k and 50k.

Now his TPE is 250k to 400k. While he has had 8 pops on 6 skills.
So even from a financial point of view, it was wise to train him.

So I believe that 19 years old with good potential have more value than credited for!

Only in the dark, we succeed!

I have drafter prennial superstar potencial 19 year old rookie before too. He had like 41 skillpoint, now at age 21 he has 78 and is my starter pg:) In a financial view i get more than twice merchandizing money than league average but i also have another draftee of mine in starting lineup too.

SO in my opinion 19 year old ones are really decent ones if you planing to train them. Yes they wont be better at age 20 than the ones drafted at age 18 but basicly they dont lose training the only fact is they will never make u-21 also they will be 1 year older I had drafted 2 my starters that year and one was 18 yo 39skillpoints another 19 41 skilpoint. Trained them together 1 pozition now 73 skilpoints 18 year old one and 78 19 year old one. Well he had some nice elastic effect but still, doesnt lose toomuch training so it isnt a waste especially when he had 16 skill pops at age 19:)

Well, I too have a player, 19y old allstar when drafted and I stopped training him when he hit 86 skill points (could probably do a few more). Along with him I drafted a 18y old allstar and he trained quite faster. And I have 58k merchandise compared to average league's 48k, so that's probably cool.

But maybe I'm looking a bit differently at 19y olds now because I'm trying to train only the players that can become top 10 players in BB world at their position. For an average user though I guess a 19y old is quite cool.

First season i cam in mid season andgot a p.allstar in my draft (I did scout and order them well). Trained him to be in the England U21's, just about to turn 22 now. I also got 2 stars/allstars i trained with him and sold for 100k&190k.
Second season came first in my league, got promoted and got an MVP and still training him
Third season got 2 P.allstars and still training them
Last season draft was the first I didntt spend 40k a week on and i got 1 ok player and 2 bad ones.
This season I am spending 10k a week and draft isn't looking good, so glad i spent so little.

Thes were all 18 year olds

I am not boasting, but showing that you can get lucky. My promotion AND mvp 18 y/o season was in D.III So they probably didn't quite know what they were doing, so that was my luckiest draft!

I hope everones draft goes well this season. I currently have a 4/4 sf as my best (pretty good) but not much else.
