i just noticed my players' salaries got adjusted -- some up, some down. i can't see any pattern: couple of big men, down a bit, one fellow, up; same with the guards. all in all, a wash, i figure.

these salary adjustments make buying players this time of the season a bit treacherous for those of us on a tight budget.

No, you are my rival and I shall knock you out, twice. I am only unsure about who has me for a rival ...

Rivalry here doesn't carry the same meaning as it's only a one way street. You see Bullish as rival but he doesn't see you the same way ... and nobody else see you as their rival. Just weird.

Not sure how I got stuck with you as a rival. "Hey let's give the new guy with a shitty team the defending champ as a rival! HA!"

Thank you for the welcomes! I feel all warm and bubbly inside. I also appreciate no one caring enough about my team for me to be their rival, but it looks to be that way with all the promotees. I'm not sure why my WR didn't go up by much, but those have never made much sense to me anyway.

Apparently this past economic update wasn't technically the first week of this season since I paid quite a hefty Overextension Tax because I rescued T-Mac from being shipped out-of-country on Sunday before the update.

Couldn't find the listing in the manual so this is from the news page:
“Overextension Tax.” With this ruling, teams should try to keep their player salaries in line with their weekly income -- if you start overspending, you’ll be hit with a tax on the extra spend. This applies only to the salary your players have when they are acquired -- if you train your players and their salaries increase as a result, you won’t be responsible for this increase. To make the implementation more gradual, all current teams will have an extra training exemption, and most teams will not be affected at all by the overextension. Additionally, this rule will not be applied during the first 4 weeks for new teams and on the first week of each season for all teams.

So I can safely assume there will be no overextension tax next week?

No way man, I'm not going to fall for that "I'm the new guy" trick. As soon I let my guard down, you and your team are going to run my team off the court. :)

You clearly have me mistaken for a competent manager.

I could always give you goo goo eyes. No homo of course.

Or maybe a slap on the ass. With or without a "good game", totally your choice.

I will add it's cool to see someone post in the forum after the 9 pm rerun of the "Golden Girls". Being 4 hours behind eastern time, don't see that often.

i want to commend you for the well-written rant about the proposed changes to our lineup selections.

i gotta read these notices more carefully -- here i thought the problem was the blank lineup that led to walkovers and screwed up the other team's minutes. that was a problem worth solving. instead, this new idea does not address it, but instead is working on taking away a very valuable option, especially at this level.

in addition to the complication of managing GS, important at any level, this league has some very clever coaches. i can think of two games where surprising lineups were a key to victory -- TKI taking down Dog River and a game In Your Face beat me, where he had matchups i couldn't stop. my experience taught me to be very wary of assigning player X a position when the other team may well be starting his all-star PG at PF and running an Inside Isolation. blank lineups gave me the confidence i wouldn't get caught. now that option is, not just disappearing, but will be gone.

ultimately, i can live with it if they give us a chance to handle minutes during the game. teams that have veterans tend to have players with high stamina, and the choices that will be left to us will force us, as it stands right now, to sacrifice several wins a year.
