Hi,

Like I said, you can only use this if the opposing team has an outside shooting PF (Kevin Love as reference), and with poor inside scoring as a team. Your team will form a box closer to the 3pt. line. And one man from your team will focus inside for cutters (mainly) of the opposing team.

The manual is incorrect.

Imagine this;

Inside Box and One: 4 players form a box that focuses inside and 1 player also focuses inside? It's gonna rain 3-pointers on opposing side.

Outside Box and One: 4 players form a box near the 3pt. line and 1 player also focuses outside? Lay-ups, and Alley-oops all game long.

Rarely used in real life. But you can use this type of defense in BB. Try scouting your opponent's schedule, past matches. If you see a huge gap between their outside and inside scoring (outside as main option to score), then use this defense if you're confident with your PF or C defensive skills. Whether they're using Base Offense, Patient, and/or Run and Gun.
