i also had 4 balls... but i only made it in the semis... and it's my first time in the top league... so i guess it all depends on your standing and in how long have you been in a particular league

This is interesting. I have only 3 balls for transferring players, despite the fact that I only have 4 transfers in the last 4 weeks, and my start players have been on my roster pretty much since I started playing 2 seasons ago.

Actually it does not speak only about the transfers, instead it says that:

I am familiar with the star players, and am not afraid that they will be transferred

So it could be that you have no clear star players, and therefore your fans are not "familiar" with them.

My team only got a 3 even though I have not sold a player the last two months, and I have never sold a player that plays considerable minutes. On the other hand there is no clear star in my squad either, so this might be the reason for the lower grade.

I got a 1/2 ball on that one.

Sold a player for 7M last season, could be it.

Though I do feel veeeery uncomfortable about being punished for something that I couldn't calculate.

These are interesting suggestions. I do have a 25k former NT center, but part of the low balls there could be the fact that my best players average less than 30 mpg because of training.

Actually this would make a lot of sense to me. I mean if the Lakers would let Kobe Bryant play "limited" minutes to give some backup the opportunity to train I think Lakers supporters would be dissapointed. In the long run it could still be a good strategy of course, but still it would not be the optimal strategy to please your supporters short term.

It would be interetsing to hear from others with limited transfers and low grades if limited minutes on their star players could explain their grades.

punished is a strong word. We're all reacting to the first calculation. I do not like the word punished in this scenario.

Just as long as we keep sharing information, we can reveal more about how the new system works and how to improve our attendance.

Well, this (and some recent posts) leads us to the point that this feature is not only a quantitative one but also qualitative. Wow.

I finished with my best record ever, 17 wins which was thrid best int he league, made the Finals and lost in a close tie breaker (that I was leading at half-time), and only got 4 balls? So I'd have to win the Finals to 5? What I did wasn't good enough for 4 and a half?

General question: What constitutes a "star player"? Is this a player with a high salary, a player who makes the all-star game, or a player who logs lot of minutes? If I have a 31-year-old veteran who made the all-start game last season, but who I'm benching so I can train younger players and I will likely sell later this season, will he still be considered a start player that will count against my fans' feeling about my team, or can I deliberately reduce his "star status" by reducing his playing time and making him an anonymous player?

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

I would love to know what a star player is too? I'm thinking minutes and his stat line are the two main factors. i.e. your leading scorer, or leading rebounder for the season perhaps?

where were your 5 loses, at home? that could play a part too.

I went 20-2 and won the league. I got 5 stars. Maybe 20 wins is the bar, or maybe it is a trophy. If that's the case than 5 bbs would be like a HoF player, kind of rare to get, and 4 bb would then be considered excellent.
