With my luck, I'll be getting both steaming piles of garbage and a 19 year old bench player for life.

Thats a very interesting approach and Baker i did expect to not make playoffs and am actually happy that i was able to do it and still be over .500... To frosty's point thats a very good concept of a plan to have a strong team when returning to D3. only problem is it hinges on what a person wants from the game. Sometimes for 1 season maybe 2 at most the game is still fun even though you are losing. but to hit the point where you dont even log in because there's no reason to set a line up and that takes away from the Users value and fun. Winning and game planning to win has value in itself. If you could get a manager who could handle 2 straight losing seasons that manager would have a good team in a few seasons. however i think the fact and idea of wanting to win is what makes us not take the best routes for developing our teams

Nəriman Qoşqar - I purchased for $80,000 and sold for $1,351,000. I have done this consistently without the draft. I would rather control who I spend my $$$ on. I ain't bagging any season. As Herm Edwards once said " YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME"

there's more than 1 way to skin a cat. and while you can use about 100k to get a good prospect to train, you could also use 350k to draft and train a good prospect. that makes you needing to make up about 250k. it's my findings that the benefits of having drafted trainees as your studs more than makes up for that 250k throughout their time spent on your team. between merchandise sales, ticket sales and over-extension tax benefits, you'd make that back 4 fold imo.

Well, I still get the argument that by not spending anything on the draft, can add hundreds of thousands to your bank account in weeks, which theoretically is more valuable on the market (and indeed has been historically). However, that methodology presupposes the marketplace stays largely static, which has probably been the most volatile aspect of BB. (At least IMO). I home grow as much as possible, so I really like the draft changes because now the blind element has been essentially removed.

As a manager you have to at least see what the market thinks of a young guy. Especially for me because at that position i made it a point to go out and get 3-4 guys who are around same age that i can train. Clearly Hilton is the MAIN but the others are progressing enough that IF hilton sold for good $$$ i could buy a player or 2 and still have 2 quality trainees that i am still improving. we will have to see where it goes from here tho!

On a different note. I didn't spend anymore on scouting points than i really do any other time (which is 0-1 pt per week) and in hindsight that was probably a bad idea. I mean i haven't had a top 10 pick since i drafted Tommy in my first season and that's turned out to be a really good grab. I should have invested more. What i am hoping is that i can get LUCKY and get another Hilton type player. if i actually spend "big" i can get enough points to do a legit group demonstration and then try the guessing game at interviewing 1 of those guys lol but ultimately i didn't invest well on that aspect cuz i was cheap and knew with losing and dumping/selling OLD men that my money wouldn't be really on the rise so i wanted to save every penny possible.

After my year of "tanking" (finished 5th somehow) it will be interesting to see what route BucsBlue management goes. Fans aren't used to this and 2 years of it may not be what they want. But with a BIG sale... Hilton or God forbid (tommy) i wont have the money to get players that will help get us back to title contention in 1 year.

Unless i Luck up and draft an 18 yr old with MVP potential and sell him for a Million plus but that's RARE! and unlikely
