Just went through some other D.III leagues, it's clear that this promotion system was neither Bot Promotion nor Conference Winners.

I think conference winners matter - it's just not the same definition of a conference winner that you are using.

The conference winner is the team which wins the conference in the regular season.

Blah, could have sworn they stated conference winners were the guys representing their conference in the Finals. Well, time to figure out D.III plans.

Well if you read this thread and what Marin said you will find no trace of a new rule (whoever leads his conference in the RS goes up). I didn't have this problem since I was in a relegation battle, but clearly if this was indeed the case it should have been said somewhere.

So far the only rules known to have been used are:
• teams winning the league or reaching the finals are automatically promoted (only for promotions into full bot league levels, so D4->D3 first season, D3->D2 second season, presumably D2->D1 this season)
• full bot promotion rules (i.e. for any league level any available spot in the higher level is taken by teams who finished with the best record and after that with the best PD)

I don't think this is a new rule. I think bot promotion has always followed the rule that the first check is for the regular season conference winners. Then overall record; PD, etc.
