It must be (2). The game engine may be quite weird when a player that's really crappy for a position has a decent alternative somewhere in the lineup -- which is mostly a direct consequence of the fact that the AI coach can never be completely eliminated from making decisions on lineups and substitutions.

Maybe this should be amended to reflect the new possibility for alternative defensive assignments, so that the changes work as intended and allow people to train off skills more efficiently.

In any case, I don't think (1) is an issue at all (or shouldn't be), and no other instances of this bug have ever been reported.

I believe this is an old bug that has been brought up a few times and thus reason number 2. The primary workaround for this is to list the crappy pg as both starter and backup with the good player as a reserve (of course not using a good player as a pg would be the best alternative).

Did you play SFDC?

Even if he was a really weak starter, he should still have started and played the majority of the minutes (barring blowout, foul-out, injury, etc..)

Single position training? If so, SFDC with no subs or the starter set at backup/reserve is the way to go. Not full-proof for players out of position, but there's not really a full-proof way to train players in off positions.

Ok guys, today it happened again and now I'm a little frustrated.
I didn't report anything up till now. Last few seasons when I put in Substitutions: Depth Chart until 4th it changes my starters for backups.

I didn't play this tactics for some time and today in positions PG, SG and SF for starters I put my weakest players and in Substitutions I choose Depth Chart until 4th. And what happened you can see on my game (19911266). All three starters was changed with Backups, and they played allmost whole game. Now that three players Ortasca, Nota and Yunda have more then 88 miinutes and I'll be screwd with game shape.

But it's not only game shape that worries me but the fact that when I choose to play this tactic I have problems. Please help!

and I check twice for lineup and didn't help :(

Always best to play Strictly Follow Depth Chart if you're playing anything other then your strongest lineup.
