just give up for waiting the answer.
my ex-player consider as current highest salary in Malaysia but NT coach did not pick him as NT player.

Allow me to wade into this discussion with my own 2 cents, which is now worth even less now that the price of petrol has gone up. I shall start on the subject quoted above. LA-CS may feel aggrieved that his player never made it as a NT regular even though he had the highest salary among Malaysians. That is perfectly understandable. Now allow me to give you a view point from a fellow MBBA manager.

Now that you have sold Kamarulzaman bin Saleh, I have no conflict of interest in letting the cat out of the bag.

Kamarulzaman, was the weak link in your team. This may come as a shock to a lot of you, at me for calling the highest paid player the weak link, but bear with me now. Kamarulzaman had imbalanced skills, incredibly high HD, DV and PS....but hit OD was average and his JS and JR were laughable. He, was a highly paid player, spoilt. It comes as no secret that my team is willing to pay a lot of money for good Malaysian players, I paid 2.6M for a player whose salary was only 50k. And yet, when Kamarulzaman became available also at 2.6M, I did not bid.

Kamarulzaman spent a LOT of time on the transfer list, which meant everyone knew his skillset, and weaknesses. I, on occasion, abused him weaknesses during our important matchups. Viewers can check back previous matches. I knew he had okay OD, but poor JS and JR. And the moment BB allowed us to change player position on defense, it sounded the death knell to Kamarulzaman's NT chances. How did I take advantage of his lack of JS and JR? I rotated my weakest OD outside player to be paired against Kamarulzaman at PG. My 3rd choice outside player doesn't have high OD, but it is high enough to stop Kamarulzaman from making too many baskets. My 1st and 2nd choice outside players, with higher OD, were rotated against your SG and SF. I know you have high passing, but by locking down your shooters, all the passing isn't going to be effective if you find it hard to make a basket. Now, he is stuck. You can pass to your other shooters being locked down by my players, or you can try shoot a basket with low JS. If he had been trained like a normal PG, he would have shot the living shit out of my sub-standard player. But he couldn't. If I could see this, there is a chance that Ahmoi sees this as well and he probably doesn't want this to happen on the NT stage.

Why was Kamarulzaman's skillset so imbalanced?

I oohed and I aahed and I may have come up with the answer. He wasn't trained to be the best PG available, he was trained for convenience. Look at his high skills, all of them are trained in 1 position, PG. He never had to be trained out of position, which was convenient because the team never needed to sacrifice playing a trainee out of position. It's a shame really, he could've been the best PG ever in the NT and yet was let down by his poor allocation of skills. If only he had some JS, if only he had better JR.

Now, this is in no way explaining why he isn't in the NT, that is for Ahmoi to explain. But it is why I think he hasn't made NT. Because he is a target for rival managers to exploit and putting an exploitable player with a big salary on the team isn't something I would want to do.

I know this is going to hurt some, but I thought everyone would at least appreciate to hear a honest opinion.

Astagroth,

You might want to PM Ahmoi directly for the answer if he doesn't come in here.

Thought of letting this thread fade off on its own, because the original question of this thread (why player A was not selected as starter in an NT game) was answered in another thread, featuring Halim bin Abu Samah whose owner also posted the same question. I'm not going to go into detail on this matter, because I feel I do not need to be answerable to any such request by player's owner. Either it's game tactic or experimental call, it was my decision, really. If you feel offended by me not fielding your player, then so be it. But, it's still my call at the end of the day. Let there be no more discussion about this.

To Astragoth, you have trained Zailizam well, and I hope you can continue to train him. You have the right to criticise my choice of player selection, but as I said earlier, I won't give you the reason behind my selection. Forgive me, if I don't reply to such thread in the future.

To CS, I think I have given you the reason via BB mail, why I did not pick Kamarulzaman into our NT setup. I know you are not happy with my decision, but in my opinion, it is best for our NT to leave him out. I do not have any personal agenda against you or any other MBBA team, for making this call. It was hard for me, but it was my duty to form the crop of playerrs who will best serve under my playing tactics and which I believe can help Malaysia NT move forward.

To Terfu and Spaz, thanks for helping me to clear the air in this thread, when I wasn't here in the heat of discussion.

Good to see a very lively Malaysian BB forum lately.

Cheers!

like i said

i am sure you have a good reason for the decision, let it be tactical or experimental. but as a former quite succesfull U21 NT coach and decent EBBL coach, (currently second in my conference) the only doubt I have is why pick an average GS player. tactical or experimental the player will perform 70 or 80% compared to his own skills. so a player with proficient GS would perform a lot better. but like i said, i am sure you have a good reason and i wanted to know the reason, but if you do not want to disclose the reason i will accept that.

My NT player is far from finished when it comes to training. He will get 1 more OD and 2 more JR for sure and than I will switch to inside training. but cant make up my mind. go the defensive route and raise ID or go the offensive route and raise IS. Would appreciate it when you could drop me a private email and let me know your opinion on that subject

I have never doubted your ability to manage our NT which is why I have always supported you in the election. I have never questioned your selection policies with the realisation that you know what's best for each game. And I have always appreciated your comments (via bb-mail) on the progress of my sole player in the NT, as well as the required direction on training. Goes to show that you know what you're doing.

But as NT you are certainly in the limelight, whether you like it or not. With the job comes responsibility. And I have always maintained that a huge portion of the position (both NT and U-21) requires the incumbent(s) to reach out to the community and respond. Whether you like it or not, there will be times when you may have to defend certain decisions, publicly or privately. To be honest I am not really interested to know the reasons why you pick one player over another. That's your prerogative as you have put it. But the moment that decision is being questioned publicly, I think as NT you will have to respond. This is my personal view. I'm always for transparency after all it's a public office.

Let me give you an example of what I have been doing as U-20 coach in another popular online football management game. I have been sending out periodic newsletters to all team owners of players in the U-20 squad to inform them of the progress of the team as well as changes in team requirements. My purpose was to have a tool or channel of communication with the team owners so that they knew my direction and could then planned accordingly in their training. I have always taken the view that as NT and U-21 coaches, one has to involve the community. This is not a solitary responsibility. The entire national community succeeds and fails alongside you.

That's just my opinion not a criticism. And if Ahmoi decides to run for another term, he has my vote.

Nicely put. And I feel the same way with Arowana on transparency. But again it is a personal preference really.

do you have a thread where malaysian NT players that are for sale can be posted? I am selling my NT SF player... and would prefer if someone with an interest to malaysian NT gets him...
