Ive always loved your passion with regards to the cheaters/people abusing this game Wolph.
Doesnt mean i agree with you though haha!
Having public IP's, or lists f people who share IP's/proxies, I believe would still lead to 'pitchfork mob vs Ogre' like behaviour. People would troll through these lists, looking for oher people to oust.
on face value this might seem like a good idea - community helping the GM's - but what would probably happen in reality is that GM's would get inundated with 'oh this guy who is using a proxy - he just sold a player for too much money - he must be cheating'. suddenly the GM's have 10 times as many cheating reports to go through - it would be like if everyones criminal behaviour was posted to everyone - your next door neighbour would ring the coppers everytime a strange noise came from your house. (assume u had a crim record haha)

you would also then have public accusations of cheating/forum discussions around 'why does this guy have a non-static IP/proxy, AND he is a successful.. must be cheating.... " - honestly, i used BB at work, i have NO idea about how my IP comes out - maybe it is proxy as well? But it would make a really bad environment if people starting accusing me of cheating in the forums, simply because of the nature of my internet connection - '.... its just not requierd and in the end would be detrimental to the game and community.

Just like in real life, the policing should be left to the police. yer sure some criminals get away, but most of the time they eventually get found out (and lets face it, most of the time the reason why someone gets caught is because they get away with it the first time, and then do it again and again until they do get caught).

for me - as long as I know that cheaters are being caughty - which I do - then thats ok with me. If the GM's need help with their current cheating review processes, i can highly recommend Wolph - he is the most passionate dude going round with regards to this! :)

yar - I hear that Manon has a screen which has all the IP's running down the monitor in green and black colour, like out of the Matrix and he can tell if you have logged on using a different IP.

Manon - or should i be calling you - Neo?

I hear what Wolph is saying - if you have nothing to hide, then why not show it... but id like to see scenario's where, having all that information available would achieve more good than evil.

"ooooo a bunch of IP's published on a website, I think i might take that list and see how many of them have port 3389 open. "

perhaps there is merit in knowing some of this information though - but maybe it could be presented in a more 'family friendly' manner. - like 'This user likes to log in from Home and Work'
This user most commonly logs in from his mobile phone (cell phone for you yankee doodles).
i dunno im just spit balling - something more personable and friendly might be nice.
then you would get 'This user just logged in from China 5 mins ago - and from France 10 mins ago' that would be interesting!

id like to know from BB the biggest number of user's involved in a cheating sting.... 20? 40? cmon spill spill!
