I've had the same experience with a former SF (13333283). He had 11 JS, 7 JR, 8 or 9 DR, and 7 IS. He always seemed to shoot better, especially when it came to shooting threes, which baffled me.

discrepancy is 80-147 for contested vs. 62-148 for uncontested

I'm to lazy to do the math now, but my gut tells me, you're still not having a significant sample size .

By the way, I got some very good results employing the 2-3-zone recently. I won the championship and my first two BBB matches using it:

(62459781)
(62459783)

(65259349)
(65259451)

Though to be fair, i didn't win by stopping the inside attack, but by dominating the boards.

I have a guy who is a good jumpshooter who reliably shoots significantly better on contested jumpers than on open ones (sample size of over 2 seasons, always plays as a G or SF so no position funkiness, discrepancy is 80-147 for contested vs. 62-148 for uncontested). Meanwhile, I have guys with far less JS who shoot a much higher percentage than that on open jumpers, but less well on contested ones, also over roughly the same number of shots.

IT should be interesting to see which ones of those contested jump shots area being assisted. Guys with high JS and lower DR/HA tend to "attract" passes from other players. Guys with high DR/HA usually don't depend on other players' passing since they can create their own shot; that's why they can get more open looks than the low DR/HA guy. Since open looks are easier to convert, guys with high DR/HA don't need high JS for hitting open looks. However their FG% of contested shot is usually very poor. Not only they have not been assisted, but they have lower JS.
