Manila Bombers Off-season News Reel

Bombers edge Eggnoggs 92-88. Gives Greedy his second trophy

With Eggnoggs making a final run near the end of the 4th quarter, general manager Greedy was at the edge of his seat, fearing that they might need a decisive game 3. But when the buzzer sounded, he finally breath a sigh of relief. The Manila Bombers just won their first championship and Greedy's first since he was managing the Secret Warriors back in season 8.

Bombers acquire Daniel Corono

After winning the championship, Greedy immediately worked to improve the team by swapping Charlemagne Manila with Daniel Corono. The team wanted to keep Manila as he has the potential to become a perennial all star. However, he cannot improve much as he is buried in the bench with Romel Trespeses starting and Renan Daduya replacing him off the bench.

Romel Trespeses is the clear leader of the team last season. But with the Bombers promoting to Division III, he wouldn't stand a chance against the stronger big men. Daduya, once a formidable big man, is now just a shadow of himself. For season 15, his role is more of a mentor than a player. Thus, in getting Corono, the team has solved this problem.

Bombers select Eleno Montejo in season 14 draft

With the sixteenth pick in the draft, the team is not expecting much. However, when their second choice Montejo is available during their turn to pick, they wasted no time in choosing him. Also selected in the second and third round are Lin cousins Lin Kainan and Lin Yingyuan. As the owner wants to limit the roster to 15 players, the team had to cut Lin Yingyuan.

Allenian SuperSonics Stumbles in their first league game!

"I am not happy!"that was the reaction of coach Ray Christian about Ippolito Innocenzi's game last friday."He is our main man and he should prove that!Because our offensive plays starts with him".Innocenzi, who only manage to produced 9Pts.and 5 assts.is way far from his average of 25 pts per game last season.Meanwhile Lech Samelko carries the sonics on his back that game got 28Pts.,7Rebs.,and 4 assts.Rookie Ambrocio del Valle recorded his first double-double of his carreer with 10pts and 10 rebs plus 2 blks and 2 steals.

The Talisay Canines was leaded by Robinson Tabbu who registered 24 pts and 7 assists. The Canines led the game from the fist quarter up to the last.A fierce rally was ignaited by the sonics in the 4th quarter where they brought down the lead by 2,but because of the Canines Good 3 point shooting they regained momentum and controlled the game untill the game buzzer sound ended. The finals score was 92-85.

Sonics next game will be with Wrathmark tommorow at 7pm.

Competition has raised into a new level

Due to the recent campaign held by the tournament heads to promote Basketball in the country, Teams from all over the nation are piling up to become the next best thing in basketball sports. Aspiring players and managers alike are lining up for what will be the greatest era in Philippine sports.

"We were really excited to see so many different Filipinos from different parts of the globe wanting to be a part of this prestigious event. We never expected this to happen, and are looking forward for next season, and more seasons to come." League II Association Board (LIIAB) member and Team Polydozel President Katchafire Collie stated in a press conference.

The campaign, supported by BuzzerBeater Global LTD., released a year-long campaign to encourage people with interest with basketball to submit their intent to represent a lineup to be given a chance to play on a national scale.

Since then, applications went like crazy and several aspiring players went lining up in several participating domes, hoping to be part of one of the country's most attended tryouts in history.

"Yeah, it beats any school's tryout attendance here." says one source. "young players line up to try to test themselves if they are indeed worthy to be league material, and older guys trying out to be part of the personnel."

Indeed there are some who are making comebacks such as former players also taking part in managerial duties, or coaching. Even some are making their comeback as players.

"Being part in a lower league champion I know i have a great chance to be back in the court again." says one former player. "Basketball is my life and I'm happy that the league is doing everything to make every Filipino's dream come true. As we all know, Basketball is scripted in every Filipino's DNA."

"1100 more teams have been approved by the organization, and the number is growing rapidly as we speak. We really expect that the rapid growth of numbers may raise the competition level as all of these players, coaches, and management personnel dreams to walk down the grandest stage of all, the PPL."

"Not just in the PPL, but in the international standpoint as well." says League II and former PPL competitor, Polydozel coach Vic Nodally. "Former youth teams and minor tournament teams have the chance to participate in, now what would be, the biggest league in the country, and one of the biggest in the world. The future is bright for us. Every Filipino has a chance to play, and maybe the best of the best would have playing in other countries as an option."

There is no other league, only OUR League, and it's BB Philippines.

Manila Bombers Season 15 Off-season News Reel

Carlo Livoti leads Cabugao Ants over the Bombers

Carlo Livoti scored 37 points and hauled in 25 rebounds to lead the Ants with a 99-81 victory in the first round of the playoffs. Fabrice Chavanon, his main defender, grew frustrated as he watched each of the shot he contested go in the basket. Even double teaming or placing three defenders against him did not work. Daniel Corono had a good night with 28 points and 11 rebounds but the rest of the team went 17-54.

Renan Daduya to play one more year

At the twilight of his career, Daduya contemplated on retiring after the season when Greedy called and requested him to play at least one more season as their frontcourt was short and the team did not have the funds to acquire a new player. With this in mind, Daduya agreed. The 35 year old Daduya averaged 0.5 points and 0.2 rebounds while playing sparingly last season.

With the 11th pick in the Season 15 draft, the Manila Bombers select Isaac Pinga

The scouts of the team were congratulated as they believed that they had stole a player with a low pick. They knew they had no chance of getting their first choice, Leo Eugene Develles, who was selected first overall as he was clearly the best player in the draft. However, they believe that Isaac Pinga will match or even be better than Develles.

The team, selected Eddie Uy in the second round and Jimmy Faduga in the third rounding up a good draft for them

League III.10 welcomes 8 new teams

Obviously, five teams are gone after every season, champion Manila All-Stars, 8th seeds San Francisco Ninja and Voyagers, and Clint City Toyens and Kalabera, both of which lost the relegation series.

In addition, two bot teams, Angeles City Archangels and chicago bearz have reached the playoffs and were relegated through bot cleanup and Manila Datus, who did not win but got promoted due to a good record and replaced a bot in a Division II league.

The League now welcomes B, B & B Law firm, libang b.c., ShArP ShooTerz, invulnerable, Naruta Puff Boys, pAgTuTuOS!, PLAJR PURE BARLEY NZ, and Relentless Lions.

Allenian SuperSonics,Having a Tough time in League III.11

Even though the Allenian SuperSonics manage to bag the championship crown last season, that dosent mean that basketball life at the next league would be just a stroll in the park.Actually Coach Ray Christian already anticipated this senario to come," I had already told the management that this senario would come because of the teams current line up and condition, remember?the team is still on their 2nd year of rebuilding. The core is already there but its still young and it has to gain more experience. Also the supporting cast is not that solid also, theres so much more to do to this team so that it would achive success in the future. But still im very thankful for the management for their support on this young team."

The SuperSonics already lost their first 3 games, and now at the bottom of the big 8 team standings.Although down, the team is still optimistic to win games."we have been in this situation before,i think we can still manage to have a decent campaign this season without elimination" said Ippolito Innocenzi last years MVP winner." Even if i am having a hard time in this league,it wont stop mefrom teaching and leading this team." Innocenzi who is still putting same numbers like last year really needed someone who can help him constantly in scoring."I really needed some support rigth now...."Innocenzi added lastly.

Also another big concern for this team is a reliable bigmen, who can control boards and defends other teams ellite players.in the fast few weeks there are already brougth 3 bigmen in the line up...but still no results..."we really needed a big guy right now..the would open a lot of things for us to do on the floor.

SuperSonics Future.....???

As for their plan on the teams on-going rebuilding, the management is still quiet about their plans on player movement.Although there are already 3 big men that are tapped to strengten their inside game, the management aslo released Lech Salmeko and Iuri Paghaya to the player market in order to level things up.But not all are happy with this transactions. One fan said that Lech and Iuri are already enough to beef-up the current line-up,Rumors said that they demanded more playing time, but was not considered,so they demanded a trade.

Other circulating rumers are that the team is just lobbying this year to get a high draft prospect which could help strengten their team. That's why before the end of last season the management fired key staffs so that the management could save money in the future.Imagine....if they get a high draft bigmen and also manage to sign another good bigmen via player market.....that could make them championship contenders...

Daniel Corono heals slower than usual, might be out for the rest of the season

Team doctor Massimiliano Vittadini said that there are no significant improvements on the injury Corono sustained in a game against B, B & B Law firm. Originally expected to be out for two weeks, he said that there is a chance that he will not be available until season 17. Because of this, Greedy quickly acquired Boguslaw Rogalski to fill up the void left by Corono. In spite of this, it will still be hard to replace the consistent production of the face of the team.

TyrantZs' fate undecided.

Concepcion, PH (BB) - "It's kinda good but not quite...It's all about making the best decision always for my team" this is all what Manager Warbo have said after his team the Concepcion TyrantZ asked about their season 16 campaign. After 19 games with 12-7 record which made them surpassed their previous record of 10-12 last S15 but still Manager Warbo was not that satisfied with the teams performance "The fate of the team still have to discuss about who will be staying in the team or who will be put in the market list" , "It's so sad and also a hard decision to make things around the league and also we always consider first our fans satisfaction not only ours." he said during a phone interview.
TyrantZ also have expressed to extend some of their players contract until next season although they didn't give more infos about the matter.

Allenian SuperSonics Season 16 Off-season Report

As been longed expected by coach Ray Christian, the Allenian SuperSonics again was regalated on League III.But in spite of that the management is still happy with the outcome this year." In spite being relegated again this year we are still happy because almost all of our young players gained more experience and skills last season. Also we manage to get a high draft pick to beef-up our current roster, that is already enough accomplishment for us." Manager Rated_rko replied in the press conference. In that conference also Mr. Rated_rko added for another 3 more years of rebuilding the team roster."As of now we are on our final year of re-building this team, but i think its not yet enough so i am extending it for another 3 years. This is also due to our commitment to our National Team's Agenda to train young players,as of now we have 2 players that can make it to their selection but we still have to train them more. " he added lastly.

As for his prediction in this year's campaign coach Ray Christian responded with, " This year we have a really good chance of making the final 4, but to win a championship i cannot tell this early because there are strong teams out there that can challenge us.But it's not that impossible to beat them either so let's hope for the best this year."

With the 3rd pick in the Season 16 draft, the Allenian SuperSonics select Cirilo Peñafiel

After his named was called, manager Rated_rko makes a big sigh," At last the pursue is all over!, i can already relax for a little bit.We really want to draft him badly."Those were the words that came into his mouth after drafting Peñafiel.

"We were happy to draft him,he is the player we need in the team, i was really shock that the 1st 2 team didn't draft him, we were really lucky this time." Coach Ray Christian added.

" I am also very happy the SuperSonics drafted me, i will do everything i can to help this team to achieve it's ultimate goal." Peñafiel said

The SuperSonics also got Carl Elbert Yambot as its 19th pick in the draft, and Servando Ramirez on the 35 pick.Overall the draft was a good one for the team," I think we can use them all in the game i really like this draft class"
coach Ray Christian lastly added.

Maybe considered as one of the best player the team has drafted, Peñafiel already drew attention from the National Team. " Maybe we can consider him if he trains very hard to improve his skills, there's no doubt that he has the skill but he still has to train more" the scout commented." Maybe this is a start of a good fortune for this team, we will support him if that time comes" Rated_rko replied.

Manila Bombers Season 16 Off-season News Reel

Montejo scores 30 in a win over Ants (33254519)

Down by 4 by the start of the 4th quarter, the Bombers relied on their stingy defense to win 93-81. Montejo scored 10 of his 30 points in this quarter to provide enough offense to steal the game. This game proved to be pivotal as it gave the Bombers one more win than Ants, coupled with a good point differential, allowed the Bombers to promote to League II.3.

Ants eliminated the Bombers from the playoffs for the second straight season (35735897)

Balionis Slodkus looked unstoppable as he poured in 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Ants to a 100-81 victory over the Bombers. Corono, still out of shape, did his best to match that production with 20 points and 11 rebounds but similar to the previous year, he got little help from his team mates.

Renan Daduya retires after 6 seasons with the Bombers

Once the starting center for the team, Renan Daduya mostly stayed on the bench near the end of his career. During that time, he mainly served as a mentor for his team mates, giving advice and sharing his experiences.

After the team acquired Boguslaw Rogalski, it held a press conference announcing his retirement. Daduya, although a bit down, thanked the team and his team mates for everything. He has a career average of 9.95 points, 8.81 rebounds, 4.80 assists, 1.78 steals and 1.71 blocks, exhibiting an all around game. After his retirement, only 3 players are left from the inaugural roster namely, Hochadel, Bahay and Trespeses.

Manila Bombers pick Rading Chiu with the 14th pick in the III.10 Season 16 draft

Scouts of the team all agreed that this draft class is weak. However, they got an acceptable player in Rading Chiu. Now, the team is comtemplating whether to send him overseas to develop or to keep him. The second and third picks of the team are Lister Canong and Eranio Jose Solis respectively. Canong is already transferred to another team while Solis awaits if any team wishes to get his services.

Bombers promote to League II.3

In one of the most unexpected events, the team promotes through bot cleanup. Even manager PH-Greedy did not believe it when the news was announced to him. However, after scouting the competition, he realized that he has a long way to go before his team can really compete, let alone stay in this division. As a first step in solving this problem, he obtains the service of French point guard François Salvat to help the team.

Manila Bombers edge out CleMeNZas Spaghetti Sauce 92-86 to win the III.1 Season 18 Championship

As the last few seconds ticked on the clock, Daniel Corono looked up the scoreboard and raised his arms. Finally, after 4 seasons with the team, he delivered a championship.

Through the first three quarters, both teams traded bucket after bucket with CleMeNZas Spaghetti Sauce clinging on a small lead. However, midway through the third quarter, the Bombers' fortune changed. Starting forward Prince Albert Pekitpekit fouled out and All-star guard Marion Sedigo aggravated his injury after being fouled by Estrera. This left the team with 5 players who were forced to play until the end of the game.

At the start of the fourth quarter, even though they were down by a point, the Bombers coached believed that they would cruise to an easy victory as their opponent were shorthanded. However, Tian Jianchao, a former NT player, had other plans. He would plowed his way through the Bombers' interior defense possession after possession. But later on, he finally ran out of gas while the balanced offense of their opponent continued to run. Later attempts at a comeback became futile when starting power forward Elviro Ching fouled out of the game, replaced by a lucky fan. The Bombers then hit free throws late in the game to seal the victory and the championship.
