Mixed Predictions?

Schedules has been made now for the coming semifinals. And the JOSE RIZAL CUP has been making a buzz already among the airwaves.

9 radio stations, 11 TV shows, and hundreds of web logs and websites all over the country are giving their two cents worth, all about predicting on who will winn the upcoming games...

The schedule are as follows:

SEMIFINALS:

Team Polydozel vs. PILIPINAS NATIONALS
JUBAS BEASTS vs. RED ROBINS

Consolation bracket (5th to 8th):

PBA ALL-STARS vs. TGIF MANILA
QUEENS COST vs. Ateneo Jologs

And a couple of articles and views are quite notable... among them, is the predictions of radio station 105.9

"Out of all the teams, JUBAS and Polydozel are the sure fire favorites for this RIZAL Cup finals. They are the only teams who cruised their way into the semi finals... too bad they weren't the ones battling for the cup finals. So I think that they would be taking the finals in a 'ho-hum' victory."

The Peep show, in Jack TV also predicted the outcome of the coming finals.

"ROBINS and team Polydozel are the teams that I think will go through the finals. I love the RED ROBINS, and team Polydozel is really tearing up the league. And I love Nolie Corneja, He kinda looks like 'my' Antonio Banderas." says Dylan, Peep show host.

however, the internet web logs are taking these games as a serious matter.

"The cup is history in the making, all of the firsts; the first shot, the first underdog, the first winner of the cup, all we be time lined and will be easily notable... because the cup itself is the first of it's kind, and with the buzz that it's creating, all the other teams who didn't make the cut will be frustrated that they didn't make it to qualify... well, until then, they will have to wait for the 2nd cup. Luckily, my PILIPINAS NATIONALS came through and I have a good feeling that they will reach the finals, provided that they will play just like playing with TGIF MANILA." taken from PNFan.com

"It's a sad day today. The judgment day has come, Jologs' and ROBINS' cup run will be decided, and the ROBINS came through. If they can beat Ateneo jologs, they can beat anyone. this is a sure cup winner." oneluckysportsfan.com stated that interesting prediction.

Any of the four teams will be righteous to get that finals spot, and JOSE RIZAL CUP couldn't be more happier. After these turn of events, and the support of the people, we are sure that there would be another cup running, and all would be anticipating this one.

Finals decided, schedule in peril

This is one helluva cup. JOSE RIZAL CUP has been splashed on by media attention, major marketing, star-studded audiences, and a powerhouse lineup of team participation like confetti in a Rio de Janeiro festival. Yet, it doesn't seem to stop giving away surprises.

The wait among the four remaining survivors is over, two were left standing amidst the chaos they made on their path. Jubas Beasts and PILIPINAS NATIONALS will be hosting history in the making. The JOSE RIZAL CUP finals.

The first ever JOSE RIZAL CUP finals, however, is being barred on a move of schedule, because of time conflicts with the upcoming Season 5, teams all over the country will once again be slated, and given another chance to vie for the coveted Philippine Cup.

PILIPINAS NATIONALS has selected as one of the teams who will be competing in the first round of the cup, their first since they started playing.

"It is our first time to play the Philippines cup and we're very excited, so as all first time participants." says Roman Helesic, NATIONALS guard. "As much as happy for being in the RIZAL cup finals."

But, due to the rules approved by the RIZAL cup board members, The Philippine cup has no right to change their schedule once announced, and the RIZAL cup may be forced to re-schedule their dates once they crossed on the National cup time frame.

"It's like the UEFA Champion's league, they take almost a month just waiting on the finals." says PILIPINAS NATIONALS rookie Leroy Casareo.

Casareo's debut was simply great, without a doubt. Scoring 23 points in 11-14 shooting, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals. He was very respectable on the court. Backed up by Manny Florencio with 21 points, 15 rebounds, shooting 50% in the field, in 40 minutes of play.

Casareo did a good job on towering Nolie Corneja, who was really miserable on his play, coying up only 6 points (2 of 10 on the field). 2nd year sniper Herminio Cojuangco and rookie point Juppert Zamora were Polydozel's one-two that game, scoring 15 and 18 points, respectively.

The 2nd round pick Zamora was quite the interesting fellow in the game, as he managed to out-shadow the first round pick Ronnie Gotardo, who played only 13 minutes.

Again, No Polydozel starter played in the cup.

"We figured this is a good chance for the rookies to step up in a high-pressure event. We thought that it is a good gamble that we let them play in the semifinals. But now, we thought that it was simply a bad idea after all." says the Polydozel coach.

Jubas Beasts, in the meantime, had a different storyline.

It was a much anticipated match between two premier league veterans gut-busting their way into the cup finals. History seekers, as some say. Once a rival, always a rival, others believe.

But most of them agree, that this game is the part 3 playoff rivalry between these two mammoth teams.

In season 3, RED ROBINS managed to take first blood by beating the number one seeded Jubas Beasts in the Conference finals with the score of 97-103. Brian Renato and Joie Taytay being the heroes of the game, and left the no.1 Beasts tamed.

They went back with a vengeance, though, in Season 4, when in the conference semifinals, their first opponents were the mighty ROBINS. They proved that they were indeed the 'Great 8 Beasts' when they push the ball on into victory by the score of 85-107. Marksman Li Way Cheng erupted for 33 points and Damiano Gauthier managed to bring 22 points to advance onto the Conference finals. Only to be cheated away by the nemesis, Celestial Fury.

All is back to square one, and only one name may emerge on their battle, with the RIZAL CUP as their witness, Jubas Beasts advanced to the first ever RIZAL CUP finals.

Marlon Kintanar soared for 25 points, shooting five 3-pointers, pride and joy was leaving the ROBINS with a blow, but it just doesn't stop there.

Now, League II.1's surprising PILIPINAS NATIONALS and Premier League's powerh

Beasts rout Robins, advances to 1st JRC Finals!

Manila - The Beasts and Robins faced-off in another rivalry match-up, but this time it's the semi-finals of the 1st Jose Rizal Cup. But this time the Robins bowed to the Beasts who won it 103-89(4240301). The Beasts were wary with the game beacuse star player Liang Wai Cheng was still sidelined with an ankle injury sustained a week ago. Coach Alas instructed his boys to just keep the ball moving until they find an open shot.

The Robins drew fist blood with a 9-2 run in the opening minutes. To make matters worse Noel Louzada picked -up two fouls in his 5 minutes in the quarter. The quarter ended 15-20 with the Robins leading. After receiving a tounge lashing from their coach, the Beasts came alive in the 2nd quarter. Marlon Kintanar and Damiano Gauthier picked up the scoring chores to push the Beasts 44-34 at the half. The Beasts continued their scoring barrage up until the beginning of the 4th quarter. Happy with his starters effort, Coach Alas gave them a much-deserved rest by letting them sit-out the rest of the game.

Star rookie Amante Iratagotia made his debut with 17 points, 6 reboundsa and a whopping 6 turnovers.

NATIONALS SHOCKS TEAM POLYDOZEL!

Manila, Philippines - Playing a formidable 2-3 zone defense and adding a surprise rookie starter, the PILIPINAS NATIONALS registered a shocking road win against the highly-touted Team Polydozel in the semifinals of the First JOSE RIZAL CUP, 87-79.

Rookie pick Leroy Casareo scattered 23 points on top of 11 rebounds to lead the NATIONALS in what could be the biggest upset of the tournament. He was ably supported by veteran Manny Florencio and Anthony Gillegao who had 21 and 13 respectively.

"Leroy was a steal in the draft. At 6'8, he's dribbles the ball like a pointguard and rebounds like a center. His potential is unlimited and I am excited to have a complete cast for the coming season." said ecstatic manager PURONGPINOY. "Ok lang na na-delay ang finals ng JOSE RIZAL CUP. At least may oras kaming mag-jell ng husto. Yung rookies namin mas magkakaroon ng oras na maki-blend ng husto sa mga beterano and hopefully, we could give the JUBAS BEASTS a good fight for the cup title." added the NATIONALS manager.

With veteran playmaker Roman Helesic not playing his usual dominating game and wingman Louie-Phillippe Fleury seeing limited action, the game was steered through the hustles and flawless game of Casareo.

"I like our chances this season. Hopefully, we come up with a better performance for the season and we are looking forward to bring in the JOSE RIZAL CUP Crown." quipped Helesic who only had 2 points in a 1 of 2 shooting from the field.

The lines have been drawn. JUBAS BEASTS vs. PILIPINAS NATIONALS for the title. Who would blink? Wait and find out.
