Teams with over or at about 500K in salaries, 5th is probably better if they have no shot at winning the 1st round game.
Teams under 400K in salaries and playing in a big arena(20,000K or more) 600K at 33& is only 200K..4th is probably better due to the experience gains and merchandising bonus if there is one...That is what I think.

I apologize for my oversight of the financial calculations of finishing in 4th and 5th... these are not positions that I am accustomed to finish in.

I think because of my inability to comprehend the latest rule changes along with my minimal understanding of the game engine and tactics, I should abstain from any further comment in this thread.

Can I be allowed to have fun with my Asian only roster and see if this might be good enough to stay ahead for a tiny bit longer before you steam roller past me with your superior knowledge and roster. It sounds like I don't have long now as the 'haters' are really closing in and poor old me - what chance do I stand when you have your noses in front!!!

I am actually looking forward to seeing how this all Asian roster is going to pan out...as you can see, I have bought 4 asian players due to the fact that they come off the TL in our time zone( not too many bidding wars happen when there are only 326 users online). This is a fair statement. It depends on one's own team and one's own philosophy. Sometimes the long term goal of a better draft pick and lessened expenses is preferable.

5th is better also for trading with players, you can speculate buying players and not paying his salary, it's another source of incomes that you are not saying.

If a manager is smart enough he can earn 0,5M-1M with trading during this period.

You may be correct that it is supposed to help fan survey, but let me give you my situation from this season.

I finished 4th...could have tanked the last game to finish 5th but decided not to. Here is the breakdown:

Salary paid for the extra week: $240k

Income from 1 playoff game: $70k

Playoff Outcome: 40 point loss due to me trying outlandish tactics to see if I could pull a miracle. Should have lost by 15 if I played normal tactics.

Current Fan Survey: 2.5 balls
I am pleased with the team's performance this season: 2.5 balls

WTH right??? I mean my fan survey was 3.5 balls on pleased with the team's performance prior to the playoff game. Then i get beat and it goes down to 2.5 balls. So basically assuming that this translates equally to next season (which it has in the past) I am getting screwed not only financially, but also on my fan survey which will translate into next season.

How the hell can any of you say that it is better to make the playoffs and get beat in the first round then it is to finish 5th??? Most times you lose a playoff game you lose favor on your fan survey, but you don't if you are idle. Someone please tell me why it was smart to lose $170k in the current season and screw the fan survey for the next season by finishing 4th. Are you going to sell me on season ticket holders? Hell no, it isn't a big enough change to matter and is overshadowed by the fan survey detriment.

Okay, end rant.

I know it's a drop in the sea, but if you tanked last game to be 5th, you wouldn't have 3.5 balls entering playoff week, but 2.5 balls or less. Right?

Possibly, but it didn't fluctuate that much during the regular season either. I could have easily lost the previous game and won the last game and still finished 5th, which would be the smart thing to do and then more than likely I'm sitting higher than 2.5...which I believe I would have been if I lost the last game of the regular season as well. If you are in the playoffs you shouldn't drop a full ball because of a loss. You should only be able to gain at that point for the category of being pleased with the current season. It makes zero sense for your fans to be less pleased when you lose a playoff game you should lose.

biut those 2,5 ball are different calculated then the balls for "the last" season next season, so maybe you loose some income in merch next week, but you gain extra visitor and merchandise income the full next season.
