As you are not playing your best players as start players twice a week as well as you might play them out of position for both game shape and training reasons the MVP award could actually be to a pretty average player. -- -- For such reason I think that the MVP award are not reasonable to use as a criteria for sponsor money and similar issues.

That, however, would essentially be a strategic choice: do you go for the maximum benefit from training or sponsors/merchandising. Generally, a choice which is obvious (such as, go for maximum training AND sponsor money VS. choose to not take money from training and/or sponsors) is not a real choice and adds absolutely nothing to the game. It's better to not have such options available since they only make the interface more cluttered which is bad especially for those who spend little time in the game. (Of course, some choices may be simply for fun and are therefore beneficial to the game.)

Overall, I think it would make the game more fun if there was a stronger incentive to play your top guys night in, night out. Balancing training minutes, game shape, and often playing your best players out of position is a challenge, which shouldn't be removed altogether, but there should perhaps be better options to that model.

It is tough to compare this situation to the real world, because stars start every game that counts in the real world, but this would cause game shape issues in
BB. I think a solution here would be to wieght per minute stats heavier than per game stats. This way the higher quality guys would have an easier path to the all-star game and MVP. We would also see less bot player filled AS games at the lower levels. The right guys getting to the show.

usually it goes like this (just example):
player X plays 35min, his rating is 11
player X plays 15min, his rating is 12+
he is not a star if he plays just 15min but his stats are better that player who plays 35min. can you imagine playing Kobe just 15minutes?

then he is not a star if he plays 15min, ok if he playes about 35min in average per game, then i could accept him as MVP contender, not less than 33min.
BB`s should look into it, and also they could make All-star MVP`s, because if they make like NBA, then dont skip this fun part (probably i would won last years all-star mvp :D)

i often try a 1 times starter and 1-2 times backup strategy for a long time(especially for the training. In the end till the ASD you often have very strong player who just play 2 minute, because it is contraproduktive to let then play longer especially with the cup.

Yes, but if Steve Nash went to play in Italy tons of people would also come out to watch and pay more to see him. Superstars bring audiences no matter what country they are in.

But would he outdraw Andrea Bargnani?

I think if you put the game in a soccer (futbol) stadium that seated 80,000 fans... Nash would bring more people to the game than Bargnani even in Italy.

Both of them would sell out any normal sized basketball arena (18,000-25,000).

Even in the states....Dirk Nowitski is going to sell out an arena before Stephan Jackson, Stephan Marbury, Ray Allen even or some other guy (non superstar) that is from America.

but this isn't really the point, you should compare Players of the same Quality like Nash and Kidd in Canada or Nowitzki and garnett in Germany(i hope this comparision is ok, i am not that good in the NBA).

At least i think the biggest diferences are in the weak players, where nationals(or in NBA relations regionals from a nearby university) should have more attetion then a foreigner. At least i could tell, tell nearly no one would buy a Crouch jersey(untalented SG/SF backup from america in the basketball team from my home) but i know some who got some from Wysocki(young german talent, wesignedt at the same time) even if he weaker then crouch and plays less. Maybe germany is an extreme example, because in our league nearly all palyers are from other country(mainly america) but if i look at the roosters of my opponentsat the beginning of the season i could nearly say the same about it here.

Yes I agree with you but he compared Nash to Barnagni so I was going along the same lines as that. Either way the BB gods are going to do what they please and our opinions matter little. Can't wait to see what the new game is going to be like....I dont know about you guys but All-Star week is boring to me. I guess since I am not in the Cup it is not any fun.

i like the election, even when the results are often curious ;) Also i like it because i always become a panic attack in weeks without a home game, if it a single week i think it is still funny but in the last off season it was too much for me^^
