The Private League is "arcade mode". From the description of Supporter Features:

Would you like to play in a second league comprised of only your friends? Our Private League system lets you set up your own, customizable league, one game per week, where you can play against other Supporters from around the world, down the block, or anyplace else you can find opponents. Private League games will take place in "arcade mode," meaning that these games will use your existing team but games played will not count towards player statistics, training, injuries, practice, or anything else. You can use your best players and do everything possible to beat your friends, and not worry about whether it will affect your upcoming playoff game.

It sounds like including an option to set enthusiasm is perfectly inline with BB's vision for what Private Leagues should be. I'm not sure what you think this would take away from the experience of managing in BB. No one manages game shape and enthusiasm for PLs. It's something that's done for fun to test your best lineups against other team's best lineups. Being able to set enthusiasm helps make that possible. You make it sound like I'm asking for enthusiasm to be taken out altogether, and that isn't the case.

Yes, well said. The only thing anyone's looking to do is iron out league and scheduling inequities.

Arcade mode = PLs are independent of normal leagues. If an IV team beats an III team in the PL, it should happen because the IV team played better and out-strategized the III team - not because of a large difference in enthusiasm.

All that is really being asked for here is the OPTION to normalize enthusiasm. Game shape does not need to be part of this discussion, IMO.

True. Enthusiasm is all that's affected by league strength. Game shape can be controlled regardless of league strength.

Um, no. Gameshape is not as controllable as enthusiasm. If your argument is that enthusiasm is dependent on league strength, well, so is gameshape.

If you need to go normal or CT because you have a tougher league, chances are you also need to play your best lineup for each game which leads to undesired gameshapes. Not only that, but enthusiasm is completely human-dependent, whereas gameshape is somewhat random too.

Take your agenda elsewhere Riseandfire.

Gameshape is dependent on your roster size. Even playing your main guys for both league games, you should be able to keep everyone around strong GS for the most part, provided you use scrim players to soak up minutes.

Moreover, it's a lot easier to control enthusiasm from a coding perspective than game shape. GS is tied to the individual players, enthusiasm to the team as a whole.

Like loldots said, game shape is dependent on roster size. You can start your best lineup for both league games and end up with ideal game shape. Enthusiasm, meanwhile, depends entirely on the difficulty of your schedule, which shouldn't be a factor in PLs. (Especially during the playoffs, when things can be thrown out of whack in a short amount of time.)
