There is a cap at $1mil. So no one will start higher than $1mil.

The maximum opening bid will be $1million, per the News.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

Hey, I like those old players (when the price is right). The problem with those players on the TL is that they tend to get listed way over market value since teams want to cash them out before they lose all value. I'd actually like to see age introduced into the introduction price factor since those old players are the ones that may be most likely to retire with no hope of getting bought. Your example of a $30k player at 32 years old is an excellent one. I could see bidding on a player like that for, say $100k, maybe a little more if he fills a need, since I could get a very useful season or two before his skills start sliding. But at $300k, I'd probably pass. But maybe not everybody would pass, so maybe this system will work out okay in the end.

It seems the FA and Retired players comes down to, Haves and Have Nots. The players that "have" aren't worried about, and want higher prices. The players that are "have nots", are looking for any help they can get to get out of the bottom leagues.

Yes, we should not have left room for interpretation about that part in the news item. Sorry for being unclear, but that's why we are here to respond, luckely, hehe.
