You know, I do agree with you to some degree there - but then again, I'm still going to train lots of JS this season.

There are some caveats, though. It's JS for Forwards, so IS does get some boost. Four of my trainees are Forwards (or, rather, should become Fs this season; they are nominal Cs). Two of them will cap during or after the season. And I've never really trained their JS before, except for the odd All-Star week when I did not have to train Stamina.

So why am I doing this? Well, I'm finishing off my two PFs so they can also hit mid-range jumpers. I'm not mindlessly pushing the skill, I'm trying to get another matchup advantage. Prolific JS or so will totally be enough for me there. Also, my SF trainees who got their necessary C skills last season need some JS too - again, I won't push the skill beyond sensational or so. Lastly, I hope that I'll never need to train JS again, ever. Or if I do, it'll be five or six seasons from now.

Still, let's not forget that there are good reasons to train JS. It's just that people seem to see it as a primary skill for guards when it's a secondary skill for every position.

I guess the main issue here is a lack of well rounded training whether for guards or bigs. With the boated skill pushing the salary to the cap, training the other skills are no longer possible.

Thus there are too many players on the TL with unbalanced primary skills and or very poor secondaries who have capped or close capping <sigh>

i guess you are right with the jumprange-thing. its very underrated (on every position imo). you are also right with the passing-thing.

but insideshot on guards seems to be pretty useless for me. when i played my sf (one of the balanced guys / insideshot 12) on sg i was very disapointed with the outcome of the game and his personal statline most of the time.

i recently acquired this guy:
Jump Shot: tremendous(13) Jump Range: wondrous(14)
Outside Def.: xxx Handling: prolific(11)
Driving: prolific(11) Passing: prominent(10).

his percentages last year also were not that good, maybe because of js13 isnt that good for a 1st devision. but he was a starter in Futa Newén's run for the chilenian championchip. i hope he is doing good

I have a player with 17 JS and only 8 JR. I've found that this combo keeps his salary dow to a minimum. He has Marvelous driving and Marvelous Handling plus Sensational OD yet his salary is well under 30k a week. He has been putting up decent %'s at 40% 3's and about 35 FG%

At the same time my other guard who has Tremendous JS and Prolific JR is the leading scorer and seems to out perform the first player.... Not sure which way to go with these results...

JR for guards has more impact to salary than JS. It can be important for some users and therefore it can be next argument that they prefer JS than JR.

Low shooting percentages may have more to do with the offense and the quality of defense they are playing.

yep......that's why everyone keeps making these "omg LI is unstoppable" posts...

It's not that its unstoppable, its just people have found a way to run an offense that can beat the standard 18OD guard stacked defensive teams...and I dont see why thats a bad thing either....OD shouldn't be some godly broken stat that wins games by itself.
