Right now you have to be crazy to waste money in scouting when prospects can be had for less than you invest.
I agree, but when there aren't even 4 good draft prospects per draft class, you have to be a bottom dweller in the league to take a chance on investing and spending points to find a quality draft choice. I have spoken to the powers that be about this before...and it blows my mind that their position on this is that having too many quality draft picks would saturate the TL.....
This is crazy though, they have made the draft a non issue, and boring. We live in this era of fantasy sports and people that play fantasy sports live for the draft, but BB totally misses the market on that by making their draft as boring and inconsequential as possible. Even if an upper division team does land a draft pick, with the way things are now, that pick won't even be a quality backup for at least 5 seasons.
In real life, every first round pick makes the team that drafts them, and most 2nd round picks make the team, and a decent handful of undrafted players make teams...However in BB, 80% of teams of have 3 immediate cuts to make following the draft....talk about anti-climatic.
