Buzzerbeater is a long term strategy game, don't make changes that impact training and/or team building with less than three months notice

I agreed with you but I think this change is fair cause is valid for everyone

Now, those might not be good choices anymore. So my elite 6th man that I trained for almost three real life years and who helped me go from fourth division to national cup winner is now a bad player who makes me lose games ?

This GE change might transform players that were good three weeks ago into complete trash that average 4 TOs a game. And learning this AFTER the start of the season is not acceptable.

This is not intented to minimize or overlook what you've pointed out here. However, there is a parallel in the NBA when the game switched away from a low post, interior scoring games to a more outside based, transition game. Those dominant C and PF's who lumbered up and down the court, couldn't pass and couldn't shoot acurately more than 8' from the basket were suddenly rendered dinosaurs who were a drag on their team rather than a focal point.

If this change leads away from player builds designed to take advantage of certain design characteristics of the GE and towards players with a more all-around build, I would argue that is a good thing regardless of when the change was made.

And people are counter-debating that it cannot be classified as "too big" based on one week of data, but furthermore, just one game.

I have a game this season with 15 assists on 29 makes, and a game at this exact point last season with 15 assists on 28 makes. My team is relatively unchanged and both matchups were similar.

So, can I use these two games and say the changes are TOO SMALL?

Of course not. We need MORE data. I encourage us all to not to overreact. And asking for 6 months of notice for a game engine change... is not realistic, nor is it something that happens with any game, at any level.

Devs make changes, players are forced to adjust. Such is the natural cycle of life.

But yes there will be a bump in turnovers and steals.

That won't be universal though will it? Presumably more turnovers from bad players, fewer from good players.

Is it there a thread or extended info on the newly implemented GE? Aside of the succint piece of news.

It is my understanding DR is a skill you must have across the lineup if PA was an issue in your team. Has this changed? Is PA across the lineup a slower yet more effective scoring method for neutral-slow attack options?

Edit, I mean slower yet more effective to train than DR

Is this a correct understanding?

The new GE has a higher percentage of shots coming from assists than before, compared to those coming from individual driving (e.g. isolation). This lead to a bigger impact of passing (for obvious reasons of efficiency and turnovers), and maybe a lower impact for DR/JS?

I'm in agreement with your read until the "and maybe" bit. This is how I would reason about the other consequences of the change:

- JS still affects the assisted shots, so I wouldn't say that its impact is reduced. If anything, it might even be increased.
- DR is affected because we should expect fewer drives (within most offense types).

The other skill that it seems to me should be affected is OD. In the GE, OD has two roles:
(1) force more shots to be defended
and
(2) when a *jump* shot is defended, it is the defensive skill involved in reducing its percentage

Role 1 remains unchanged, role 2 is reduced for the simple reason that fewer shots are defended.

(In the match-viewer, assisted shots show up as undefended, which makes it natural to suppose that they do not involve a OD check in the GE)

Amen!

Glad someone mentioned it at last. I do believe this is the main reason behind the change.

I considered keeping it for myself and for those who can reason to the same conclusion.
