WOW requires Billing address surely. As far as i remember they even required ur battlenet first and last name to be the same as ur embossing name on a card (several (4-5) years ago i had trouble with billing for my brothers account with that).

Regulary it's up to merch - to ask or not to ask billing address and personal info, either as risks managment.

and wow and wikipedia has even uncomparable income - bad example

But seeing as though this is only about addresses and credit cards and DoB, i think
a) you drink too much coffee
or
b) Need to find a 1st world problem to be this passionate about.

i dig the enthusiasm, but erm. yer. People have argued less to save their lives during conflict.

I use to WORK for a CC bank and I use to do everything from disputes to fraud prevention to new accounts...

because you don't understand at all, that for merchants it is much easier and cheaper to deal with paypal and others aggregators than directly with bank. and it is not big deal for most of the customers.

ps. i'm currently working in third in Russia card bank (third in cards issued), and worked in 2 others before. Worked in support, acquiring, issuing and development for 7 years

pss. i'm not "paypal fan", it is just about ur suggestion that seems bad.

psss. in russian forum we recently talked about currency exchange- paypal had better course than our central bank set for that day yea now i'm paypal fan lol

OH and CC comes from Diner's club but imagine if every time you swiped your CC at a convenience store or restaurant they also put/asked for your DoB and address on file to make sure you weren't stealing from them....

cmon lol we are talking about "card not present" transactions...

In restorants they ask u for more personal things - eg signature, pin-code, making slips (i dont know if there are still slips in Japan, i Russia we don't), reading ur magnet stripe, chip data - to be protected if customer will try to make chargeback.

sorry i guess dialog can not be continued. U really do not understand bases of CC, while u think u do.

People want DoB to either steal your identity of sell your info for marketing.

or to give you a present (even electronic postcard) on birthday you always can use 01.01.1980 as your birthday

last one about currency exchenge:
in direct acquiring chain like this -
merch->bank acquier->payment system (eg visa)->bank issuer->cardholder
usd->usd->usd->usd converted to rubles with bank exchange rate (eg central bank rate+2%)->rubles.
with paypal i had like this -
merch->paypal->bank acquier->payment system (eg visa)->bank issuer->cardholder
usd->usd converted to rubles with paypal rate->rubles->rubles->rubles ....
and paypal rate was better than central bank rate (even more than by 2%)

I am 100% on your side but as for your Central Bank when I crossed the Iron Curtain many years ago I was forced to exchange my money at the "official" exchange rate which was 17 times worse than the real rate. Not 17%, 1700%!
